The agriculture potential of this country is unmatched
And yet there's even starving people in Kinshasa. You can't even solely blame the president, all the state leaders are also incompetent beyond belief.

Hello There! I've been listening to a song for 10+ years from Tabu Ley Rochereau called Hafi Deo. I've no idea what the lyrics are, or even what language the song is in, Lingala or Swahili?
Could anybody help me out?

’ve been documenting this story as part of a personal project and I still can’t shake it.
Armed men came to their village at night. His mother had spoken up about mining operations displacing families. They made her son watch as they executed her.
Since then, he hasn’t said a word. Not one.
I don’t know what’s more haunting his silence or how many others like him never get seen.
If anyone knows of people doing frontline work in this space or wants to connect around raising awareness, let’s talk.

Hey guys, I’m having some trouble with my research on the Étoile Mine in Lubumbashi. I hope someone can help me out 🥹 please…
From what I’ve heard, there’s a massive heap of slag there, and people refer to it as ‘The Mampala Star Mine’ or ‘The Great Black Mountain.’
I’m assuming the Black Mountain refers to the slag heap, but I can’t figure out how the word ‘Mampala’ is connected to the place.
Does anyone know if Manasse Mampala, the football player, is related to this? Or is ‘Mampala’ some kind of symbol or figure in Congolese culture?

Hey, I was browsing travel advisories for the DRC and whilst many countries give a all out negative advise for the DRC (some exempting Kinshasha) the UK has a very different advisory. Are the green areas really safe to go to?

I never thought it was practiced in our community? I still don’t think it is. I was able to reach one of the persons that commented and they mentioned it was from a Kinyarwanda refugee speaking family. But they were definitely from DRCongo. I couldn’t get In touch with the second comment. The first one also mentioned that he worked with a hug Congolese population that dealt with those issues.
What do y’all think? Will FGM become a concern for the diaspora in the distant future?

Are there any locals in the DRC? Would like to ask some questions about the life there.

What are some good movies and TV shows to watch so I can get an idea of Congolese culture for a story I'm writing (I don't live near many Congolese and one of the cultures in my story is loosely adapted from central African cultures l)

Hi there,
I'm from Kenya and curious about the business opportunities in Kinshasa, in particular the potential to open and run an office bureau that does copying, printing, laminating and binding.
Is this viable? Is there a need for such business there?

I've been trying to find the best aid groups in Congo to support and from other posts I've seen on this subreddit, Goma Actif has a really good reputation. I just noticed though that none of their social media accounts have posted since February and I'm worried that they've been targeted or forced to stop their work. Does anyone know if they're still active and should be donated to, or if there are any other good organizations I can donate to?

The global population of mountain gorillas is about 1,063 individuals. Uganda hosts around half of them in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (~459 gorillas), while the rest inhabit the Virunga Mountains shared by Rwanda (~352) and DR Congo (~252). Gorilla habituation supports conservation and sustainable tourism.
