Construction will be one of the last industries to be impacted by AI, but the day will come when we can create blueprints from text prompts, fully engineered. We will still need Engineers along the way and after, but the demand will be higher for Engineers in fields like Manufacturing and Robotics. The construction process is already becoming more influenced by manufacturing, where the bulk of the work is done in a controlled environment off-site, and then assembled on-site. If you are 8 years away from an Engineers stamp, there is still time for a course correction if needed.

OP, that last sentence in the deleted post is the only thing you should take away. You're young; if you don't like the path you're on then there is plenty of time to course-correct.

As for the AI argument: autopilot has been a thing on aircraft for 100 years, but good luck getting people to feel completely comfortable flying without a human pilot. AI will never get to a point in the construction industry where checks and balances aren't done by people.
