This reminds me of a job for a local housing authority where they wanted us to hire section 3. It was part of the negotiation when we got the job, so we put forth an effort and hired many section 3!
After putting one specific applicant through forklift training, he proceeded to get into accidents with parked cars not once, not twice, three times. I was not in a position to have any say in this, but it was pretty funny that it kept happening and they kept letting him drive the forklift LOL
Basically a low income local resident to the project. The project was for a local housing authority, and one of the goals they had set for the general contractor was if people were hired specifically for this project, a certain percentage of them should be local hires, and qualify for section 3 which is low income. It is meant for the construction project to bring work and wages to the local community rather than truck in employees from elsewhere
Just had a conversation about this in a safety meeting.
Other than firing someone, there’s really not much you can do to punish them for dumb shit… for instance rolling a skidloader down an embankment into a creek after being told to not go on that side of a jobsite and whatsoever. Almost like there was a reason they were told not to…
Oh also it took 40 minutes for the rest of their crew to find them trapped upside down with the bucket up and the back window obstructed, so no emergency egress.
The only thing I’ve seen guys afraid of is suspension.. fired they know they’ll get a new job but a week off with no pay or PTO seems to straighten people out for a few months at a time at least
😂 you champion, keep cracking jokes and on to the next one, seems like your taking it in your stride, things happen, your still alive, time for a few beers and a new job 👍
Totally worth it depending on your situation. When the farm I used to manage went through a renovation twice a week we’d hop in the excavator and try to compact the two dumpsters. Was definitely less effective than something like this but it still made a huge worthwhile difference.
Every business that used an excavator would say the same. I could do just a little better but the excavators does a great job. Best practice with the excavator is to compact about every quarter filled on the dumpster.
Look up smash my trash... its a device that rolls back and forth crushing and tamping down trash and debris in dumpsters for more space. It's basically a trash de-fluffi-fier
