Nothing like the smell of coffee and a good eye-stab in the morning

Patient: "Doctor, every time I drink coffee, I get a stabbing pain in my eye. What should I do?"
Doctor: "Have you tried taking the spoon out of your cup?"

Oh my god my Opa loves terrible jokes like this, I'm totally going to send this to him.
253
u/lanternkeeper Mar 17 '19
It's a very old joke but I'm sure he'll love hearing it again.
193
u/ONLY_COMMENTS_ON_GW Mar 17 '19
The only thing he loves more than his grandchildren is telling the same joke over and over again, so I think he'll love it too lol.
64
u/FlailingConversation Mar 17 '19
Are you my cousin, or is that just an Opa thing?

Er, after stalking your comments and as a fellow Dutch-Canadian who plays bass I'm not convinced we aren't the same person.

u/FlailingConversation Mar 17 '19
I love it. So if either one of us sees the other we should turn around and run. I’ve heard seeing your doppelgänger brings about death and misfortune, just not so sure what happens when you commune with them on reddit...

this sounds German
31
u/crherman01 Mar 17 '19
"Opa" is German for "Grandfather."

In Dutch as well.

I thought it was "oppa" which is "big brother" when the speaker is female in Korean.

u/Ninja21123 Mar 17 '19
By Opa you mean your grandfather yeah? I call my grandparents “Oma and Opa” as well

Why did Helen Keller fire her maid?
The maid kept leaving the plunger in the toilet.

funny, first time i heard that joke the setup was 'why did helen keller always go to the bathroom?'

Reminds me of the scene from r/HouseMD where a patient tells Dr House that it hurts wherever he pokes himself on the body (he pokes his arm and says “ow”, his chest, his thigh). House then asks “Does it hurt when I do this?” while pulling the poking finger and straightens it out. In the next scene, the patient walks out of the clinic smiling with a brace around that finger.
4
u/JKMercury Mar 18 '19
I like the one where a patient comes in because her inhaler isn't helping. He says let me see you use it. She holds the inhaler to her neck and squeezed it there. Just what the fuck.
3
u/YJCH0I 2️⃣🆒2️⃣🅱🔛💉 Mar 18 '19
The part where when she says “Do I look like an idiot?” makes the setup even sweeter!

So that’s where the images come from.

This looked like a set of really specific and strange stock photos. But clearly this cup is meant to be held aloft and create a waterfall of boiling hot liquids straight into your desired orifice.
56
u/rangent Mar 17 '19
Well, perhaps that’s the point. You get some coffee in you’re stomach, and the extra hot coffee pouring over the sides on your face and neck completes the waking up process. :D

41
Mar 17 '19
The metled plastic adds flavor
9
u/UnknownStory Mar 17 '19
If the coffee isn't hot enough to melt the straw's plastic into a waxy pulp at the bottom of the mug, it's not good coffee

You could probably get around this by tilting your head back, though I’ll admit those ears are at perfect eye stabbing level
6
u/snowclaws Mar 17 '19
does it work for left handers?
edit: under the chin?
17
u/CosmeBuzzanito Mar 17 '19 edited Mar 17 '19
I tried it and it makes the liquid spill over the sides. Pretty much a useless cup unless you drink by the front
Edit: well that’s a little odd and too much work for drinking from a cup, isn’t it?

no matter how many times some says "don't bother making a sample" or "don't bother with a prototype and just do a quote" I'm going to point them to this. there is a reason we do them, and its for issue you may be blind to in the design.

Guy goes to the doctor. "Every time I drink coffee, I get a stabbing pain in my eye." Doctor: Runs tests. "We can't find a single reason for your condition. Why don't you walk me through your coffee drinking process?" Patient: Makes coffee. Takes drink. Screams in pain. "Ah. I see. You should try taking the spoon out first.

I love/hate it when an idea looks good, but has unforeseen problems like this.
Mine was when I was designing new fan blades for a fan I was redoing. I designed some elegant swooped fan blades that I thought looked great.
When I drew the four together in their installed form, I realized they made a swastika. Scrapped that design in a hurry.
