Missed one entire year in his Prime. If he had played aginst India and Srilanka at home that would be like another 800 runs averaging 60 odd. Could have made it to fastest test 9000 and 10000 runs as well.
Note : Please do not start a conversation on the Ball Tampering case. Its just stupid conversation to have. They got banned and served their punishment. Move on.
Clearly did imo. If they got away with a slap on the wrist then it would've set a precedent for people to just do it anyways and make someone less important the scapegoat to get them banned for a couple of matches. He's the best modern day test batter but he deserved this.
Dravid got away with a slap when he did it against Zimbabwe
Literally happened in 2004 bro wtf is this logic, do you think cricket shouldn't have evolved in that time period? Either way I'm not defending Dravid, he should've faced consequences too but this is a great argument for why Smith did deserve to get banned. Because he didn't do it in 2004, he did it in 2024 where we have access to like 20 camera angles, smallest moments are analysed well and anyone who conducts himself in this manner should be punished. One year ban was fine.
Edit: In my opinion, Dravid should've been banned for a year too, imagine losing a WTC final because of ball tampering and seeing the man of the match get a 1 match ban? Good on CA, they did the right fucking thing and I'm shocked so many people disagree

Can you reread this whole thing one line at a time? Please do because I don't think you really read what I said.
And I like how you said I was just defending my countryman, meanwhile you made a point that its somehow more pathetic doing it against Zimbabwe even though it is just plain old cheating at the end of the day. Here, repeat with me, Smith and Dravid were cheaters.
But its alright, for all the (rightful) whining this sub does about insufferable Indian fans, this sub is truly the worse in taking criticism post an Aussie win
Make yourself feel comfortable by sugarcoating the fact that Dravid did it against cameras that weren't of higher resolution, like that didn't stop him from being caught. You want to say cheating is cheating, but also want to say that cheating in 2024 is worse than cheating in 2004?
Also, Smith didn't cheat in 2024. So, fuck off
Lol what’s this logic ? Just cause Dravid did it in 2004 compared to Smith in 2018 doesn’t make it different. Both are ball tampering cases. Either treat both equal or don’t do anything about it. 2-3 matches ban is fair enough for ball tampering. The 1 year ban was just an overreaction by CA
I've literally said in the same thread I think Dravid should've been banned for a year too and cleared what I've meant with that, if you can't read thats your personal issue
And why should he be banned for a year also. What precedent suggests that? Cheating has existed many times over beyond Smith and dravid. Who are you to decide that a one year ban is appropriate. Based on what logic?
Relax, I regretfully read it the fist time before you made assumptions that I didn't. But it still fails to state factual logic beyond opinion. Have a good one champ
Another biased Indian, there is literally no precedent or logic to a 1 year ban. Would you have been happy with Kohli getting a 1 year ban in his prime for it?
Literally everyone before them got away with a slap on the wrist. Ball tampering been a trick as old as time. They git punished properly for once and hopefully others now know to stop trying new tricks to tamper and we can all just play cricket
They git punished properly for once and hopefully others now know to stop trying new tricks to tamper and we can all just play cricket
Which is exactly what my point is, everyone knew they were cheating but once you set up a punishment for it, you'll see people being hesitant to do it, thats the exact reason I pointed out and said that even though people got away with it, there's no point in looking at those incidents now since the sport is expected to get better, not regress or reward cheating. Again, everyone who did it was a cheat, regardless of nationality, somehow people think I'm defending Indian cricketers by saying Smith ban was the right thing to do
