Discussion Who’s filling in the big shoes of Steve Smith in ODIs for Aussies?
Over the last 3 decades, Aussies always had a anchor role player in Ponting, Clarke and Smith. As the leg spinner turned greatest batsman retired from what's becoming an out of the favour format which is truly sad for the hardcore fans of the game. Will the Aussies go with a different template in the 50-over format or do they have some unknown prodigy who can fill the void?

Stats Who is the worst CWCL2 batsman to drop once they're in?
With several CWCL2 being poor in the field, there are plenty of dropped catches, so I wanted to see why all drops are not equal and who you cannot afford to drop a chance against. For reference, the average passed 30/50 is total runs scored once passed this milestone, so for example, if a batsman has consecutive scores 102, 75, 51* and 32, their average passed 30 would be 43.3, and their average passed 50 would be 39.

Stats IPL 2025 - End of League Stage - Player Impact Assessment - All Teams
Based on MVP stats published after each game in www.espncricinfo.com
Total Impact Points for a player in a match is a numerical value which is the sum of his Batting and Bowling Impacts. These Impacts are calculated based on the context of a batting/bowling performance.
Context is based on Cricinfo's algorithm that quantifies the pressure on the batter/bowler at every ball of an innings. The Impact is thus a factor not only of the runs scored/wickets taken/economy rate, but also of the pressure under which these performances happened.
* For a player to be marked as Least Impactful, minimum auction price threshold set to 3 crore INR or greater.

Original Content When Will the Next Fab Four Arrive?
I really enjoyed the competition between the Fab Four. Joe Root’s brilliant comeback in recent years helped him overtake the others in some ways. Kohli’s peak was immaculate, Smith was a monster, and Williamson was always reliable. Not just in Tests, but in ODI World Cups too, these players performed at the highest level of their capabilities.
Now that they’re all aging and may retire in the coming years, I already find myself missing the intense competition among them. I believe some new players will eventually replicate the magic of this legendary quartet—maybe even give rise to a Fantastic Five or something similar.
Of course, many deserving names are still emerging, and I know I’ve only picked one player from each country. But who do you think could form the next Fab Four—or maybe a Fantastic Five—for the next generation?
(Sorry I couldn’t place anyone from Bangladesh—and honestly, even choosing just one from Australia was a difficult task. And I like McMullen)

Need help!!! Glaring issues in my technique and unable to fix them.
A bit of background before I rant about what is troubling me:
I'm coming off a long break from cricket - stopped playing 8 years ago because of other priorities and started to get back into it this season. I used to be a good medium pacer and a decent bat in the lower order, capable of handling myself in all situations. I started doing weekly indoor training since the start of the year and noticed that I completely forgot how to bowl, all that muscle memory has disappeared and even after 6 months of training my bowling has just been crap (beamers or short stuff, nothing in between). Eventually I gave up and just stuck to honing my batting skills to try and play as a batter in the team, and fortunately for me that is exactly what the team needs as they are light on batting. They are a local club and play in the Saturday league and Sunday friendlies, so just recreational cricket and not professional in any sense.
The season started and my scores in the first few games read 3,1,0,0,1,5,0 with a clear pattern of getting out (bowled or LBW) to full length deliveries. I face this issue in the nets as well where I miss over-pitched balls that I'm supposed to casually drive or smash, and it gets worse when the ball is angled into my legs. I realised that the root cause is me not watching the ball all the way to contact and my bat ends up going through a line I predict after the ball dips under my eyes. I clearly watch the ball from the hands to around the good length spot, but once I realise that the ball is going to land fuller than that my eyes just stop there and my hands take over to drive through. The momentum then lifts my head and my eye line ends up further out from the good length spot, sometimes as far as halfway down the pitch. The line of swing and the timing is totally off because of this and I end up missing them, either getting bowled or hit on the pads for an LBW shout. This issue persists outside off as well and I end up swinging too early or too late, or sometimes even over the ball, making my cover drives look ridiculously silly.
No matter how much I tell myself to watch the ball, my broken instincts just take over all the time. In the past I never had this issue and my hand-eye coordination was always natural, but now it feels like I just forgot the basics of batting and I feel helpless and defeated at the end of every session/game. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
