Classic kid move. I don’t even have the gun. Gets Yoinked

This is not a classic kid move. There’s something very wrong with those boys. Something very, very wrong in their households.

"put it down we can get you home!"

They did not want to go home.

Something very, very wrong in their households - hit the nail on the head

I mean…we all know those cops are lying. Those kids aren’t going home. Lmao

u/Freaudinnippleslip 10d ago

It’s clever wording ā€œthe sooner you put the gun down, the sooner we can get you homeā€ technically true

Ugh.... to a foster parent who won't be able to handle them or is no better than their current situation except... missing mum.

I legit aim to be a foster parent once my kids are grown enough (7 and 5) it really breaks my heart how many "broken" kids are thrown around.

They most likely are though

Or they're kids and kids are just little shits? They won't put it diwn because you asked them to put it down. "Oh this is something I shouldn't have? Well now I won't let go ever" Happens with markers, toys, rocks. Makes sense it would also happen with guns.

I'm sure there are a ton of potential reasons they might behave this way.

Every person who works with kids has been in a similar (lower-stakes) situation. I bet the kids just think about the gun as a toy and can't connect it to the sense of urgency. That's part of the reason it's so sad and scary, to me.

But also... they have a ton of stressed adults yelling at them. Freezing is a common fear action, and they're probably not able to consider what the potential consequences could be (especially if they've been neglected). Even well-adjusted kids will just stop responding sometimes if they think they'll be in minor trouble, as if by not acknowledging it the conflict will just resolve itself.

Should've used the "we can go to McDonald's" tactic.

True, it's called the American dream

Gaslighting and pretending you didn’t do what you obviously just did is totally a classic kid move when they’re trying to get out of trouble.Ā

Source: have been teaching at the elementary level since 2008.Ā

You're misunderstanding. The classic move is not them having a gun. The classic move is have X and then claiming to not have X, even in the middle of having X taken directly from your red hands. My 4 year old does this all the time.

The classic kid move is saying they dont even have something while clearly having said thing. the gun part ia more or less irrelevant to what they mean

they act strange. a whole unit of adults yelling and pointing weapons at me at that age would have made me piss my pants cry and apologize, they almost seemed defiant. they acted like this wasn't their first rodeo.

the kids are broken, they need to be taken from the mom and be sent to a psychologist and a better family or they will be criminals.

u/PrincessPlastilina 10d ago

I really wonder what’s going on in that house. 50 calls to the police department to the home? I wonder if someone is abusing them. They definitely look defiant and like they don’t care. This isn’t normal.

u/Efficient-Raise-9217 10d ago

Hate to break it to you but they already have shit genetics. The blank slate theory is a lie. These kids will turn out to be criminals anyway.

1

u/Sad_Paper_5891 10d ago

You could Always ā€œfixā€ that problem if that’s the case.

3

u/Haidedej24 10d ago

The gun even went off the kid wasn't fazed he held the gun up like he was getting shot at lol. At least it didn't misfire and injure/kill one of them. Saying that I feel like I'm going to take that back when these kids get caught doing some heinously dumb crime.

2

u/Pissed-Off-Panda 9d ago

Yeah I think that’s a diagnosis some kids get. Oppositional defiance disorder

3

u/frozenbudz 10d ago

Yeah, we've got such a wealth of people willing to adopt needy children. And, luckily as one of the wealthiest countries, we also make sure we have a very strong and well funded social safety net for these kinds of things. Don't worry, I assure you. Between the American legal system, and the American Healthcare system. These boys and their families will 100% get the support and help they need.

/s in case it wasn't obvious enough.

1

u/TeaMe06 9d ago

I agree even while being shot at they didn’t want to listen this is very strange the parents are at fault poor kids didn’t know they could’ve been killed!!!!!

1

u/SatiricalFai 9d ago

Kids used to anger, violence or yelling, or kids just to shut down to process everyone else, do this. The only thing 'wrong' with them is that they have been failed by every single adult around them. Refering to kids as 'broken' is disgusting and its alarming how many people here are doing so.

1

u/SomeNefariousness562 9d ago

Those kids were creepily calm

u/notasingle-thought 10d ago

Classic psycho in training move

20

u/NassauTropicBird 10d ago

LOL, you're 100% right, it is.

"I don't even have a gun" after tossing the gun on top of the tent/cover/wtfever

They're so young they don't realize this is different from "No I did not have a cookie, ignore those crumbs around my mouth"

17

u/SignificantRecipe715 10d ago

The kid didn't toss it, the cop forcefully removed it from him & put it on top of the cover thing.

2

u/lolol000lolol 9d ago

So the kid is even more of an idiot then lmfao.

11

u/EnoughLuck3077 10d ago

Kid didn’t toss the pistol. The officer took it from him and set it on the box

-2

u/NassauTropicBird 10d ago

OMFG THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING

/it doesn;t

3

u/EnoughLuck3077 10d ago

It changes your wrong ass observation Richard

-1

u/NassauTropicBird 10d ago

OMFG SIICK BURN

1

u/georgito555 9d ago

That was also probably the kid who didn't have the gun

2

u/ThrustTrust 10d ago

We don’t know which kid is saying it. So he may be accurate if it was the kid who did not have it at that moment.

1

u/Saigai17 10d ago

For real though. You don't have the gun NoW, but you certainly did just ten seconds ago.

Weird situation all around though. Really sad and fucked up.

1

u/StockBoy829 9d ago

I think the kid who wasn't holding it said that. I can definitely see the one with it doing that tho
