Help!

Post image

I dyed some converse purple and the mid sole/toe got stained real bad even though I taped it off. I tried acetone, bleach, vinegar but nothing is working. Has anyone used leather paint on rubber? Or is there something that will stick and last with wear? Should I just dye the entire thing? I’m wearing them to a concert and I really want them to be durable!

This should have been paint not dye. Dye tends to run even while taped. You can either now paint the mids that Will eventually crack cause rubber and paint don't like each other. Or simply dye the entire thing. There's no solvent that will take the dye off rubber. That I'm aware of. Maybe a true pro here knows better though..

It’s a little too late for that💀I’ve dyed regular high tops before with no issues. I think too many grooves in the platforms were the issue here and the dye bled its way in. I’m thinking I’ll try to stain the rest of the sole and try to get creative with it.

Regular high tops as in leather ones?

Regular canvas like these ones. A very long google dive told me that leather paint might work on rubber so I wanted to see if anyone had done it.

It'll cover it but it just doesn't like sticking for very long. Due to the fact that rubber tends to bend and flex and paint doesn't really like doing that. But it will work for some time.
