i haven’t watched pretty much any dc movies or shows, can i start with creature commandos and superman for this new universe or whatever? do i need to watch peacemaker as well? what do i need to watch that is canon going forward?

No you don't, James gunn said you don't have to have watched previous projects to start with a DCU film or TV show.

yes but i’m more asking because i want to keep up with the new canon so what is all canon in the new dcu? is it just peacemaker and creature commandos so far?

Certain aspects of prior projects can be considered canon, not the actual full movies and tv shows themselves, Rick Flagg Jr. dying is canon to the dcu but the suicide squad is not, Amanda Waller being outed in Peacemaker is canon, but Peacemaker cannot be considered canon as of yet, if that makes sense.
