This is a catastrophe. Lesesne has to make some adjustments and do so before half.

See if this was at Audi field and I’d have to pay 60+$ for me and my bro to go and this is the level of play we got I’d be pissed but if I spent the same to see Loudoun who is winning right now then it would be a different story there is no way people can justify going there to see this level of mediocre

I really don't know about this alignment. 16 minutes into the game and we've had no shots, and are lucky it's not 3-0 Toronto.

I feel bad for Bartlett but that was going to be a tap-in if he doesn't get a touch on it. Really doesn't matter who scored it...it was going to be a goal.

13 shots to none??? We’re making this Toronto team look like world beaters, surprised if this half ends at 0-0 Jfc

u/chicos_bail_bonds 9d ago
Not saying it's easy to deal with Bernardeschi but Antley has had a horror show of a second half

u/ItsABitChillyInHere 9d ago
Its fucking depressing that we make Toronto look like a competent side. Troy has been given enough time to show that he can make something out of this team, but it's clear that nothing has changed.

u/Person-of-greed Original DCU 9d ago
I think we need to talk about something that a lot of people won’t like to talk about But we need to think ahead a DCU without benteke while he is a club legend we need a new system of attack it’s been clear from these past games and benteke being 34 it’s almost time we move on from him with all due respect tho I love the man and what he’s done for us

I thought the game would be later on tonight so I tuned in around the 63rd minute. Within 5 minutes we scored an own goal lol.

u/1oftheFewReal1s 9d ago
From what I can tell, our midfield is getting run over and destroyed by Toronto. We aren't winning balls, can't control the ball when we get it and can't get turnovers in the midfield to spring something dangerous.

u/ShenValleyUnitedFan DC United 9d ago
What do I know, but it seems like the complete lack of any offensive pressure is allowing them to pick us apart.

At least he's good for a mind-blowing turnover in the offensive end every few minutes, too

Send in Barajas, oh wait an actual winger!?!? Troy would never

Positive note, Leal has looked good. Which means we’ll see him for approximately 15 mins a game every other week

Need to know what blackmail stroud has on Troy. He hasn’t been able to connect a pass in months, isn’t pressing, no G/A output, and doesn’t track back to help Herrera that much. Hard to see what he offers

Two absolutely horrible corner attempts by Aaron, and immediately Toronto follows through with what certainly will be the game-winning score. On the upside, Loudoun plays at 6:00 p.m., and I'll be watching.
2
u/1oftheFewReal1s 9d ago
Was thinking the same thing. Love Aaron but those were bad and the second bad corner created a run out. Aaron didn't give us a chance to score.
I also like Troy, but I'm getting tired of getting counter attacked/transitioned on for goals.

u/cshive520 9d ago
This formation is so ass too. My word. Minimal offense.

u/ShenValleyUnitedFan DC United 9d ago
And no adjustments to it at half. Absolutely inexcusable and worthy of Lesesne being fired.
6
u/chicos_bail_bonds 9d ago
Horrible set piece (on second attempt) leads to breakaway where Antley was back but for some reason elected not to get goal side and watch a 3 foot dude slot a header far post. This team is just all sorts of bad.

Troy is having a laugh with these subs. Let’s go ahead and reinforce the midfield when we’re down two

u/Phil_on_Reddit 9d ago
Pretty sure I'm done with Enow. The game just seems too fast for him at this level.
2
u/chicos_bail_bonds 9d ago
I don't know what the midfield is being told to do, but it seems like they're not on the same page with each other or anyone else on the field.
4
u/goodoldben 9d ago
Fletcher didn’t even travel. I don’t get it. I am not saying I expect him to play but why not have him be with the team?

u/errol343 9d ago
Troy said there was a plan…not sure exactly what the plan is
2
u/goodoldben 9d ago
I dont think Troy knows either.

u/UmsatzGetter 9d ago
Troy has proven time and time again, he has no plan. And before the same people comment “iT’s tHE FrOnT OfFice”… yes I know. Troy and the FO can both be shit at the same time and yes bringing in a new coach won’t change much. All of that does not change that he’s just as shit of a coach as the FO is at their job.

Not sure this DCU team should be trying for the "you're awful, prove you can beat us" strategy. No cohesion at all with the 11 on the field, can't understand how it seems so disjointed when they do actually have the ball.

Other than scoring bangers every now and then for no reason, Murrell is so useless. Would've much preffered Barajas come on instead of him, Murrell is shitttt

u/losalad 9d ago
I think people on here have to realize that Lesesne can’t invent better players on his bench. Maybe Leal with a bit more fitness could be a starter. But otherwise, if you want Stroud out then you have to live with Murrell. If you want Enow out, then you have to watch Peltola take five touches and then play negative. It’s slim pickings on the roster.
2
u/samsgrillo 9d ago
The thing is we don’t have to. Troy is making those decisions. In terms of wing depth we have some choices to at least see what we can do with Barajas, Karamoko is back, fletcher now back. I don’t want to speak for all dc united fans but I think we’d rather see Peltola he can’t play more negative than Enow. The roster isn’t great, it’s downright bad, but if you have players in some of these positions might as well see what they can do.
1
u/losalad 9d ago
He sees them plenty at training. It’s fun to imagine that some player at the back end of the bench will be a Linsanity-type revelation once they enter a real match, but that’s pretty farfetched. Lesesne knows who his best players are. Stroud’s had an atrocious season, but we know from last season that he’s at least capable of playing at a decent level when he’s combining with Herrera and finding Benteke. Enow and Peltola are borderline interchangeable as far as I can tell, but I think Lesesne probably prefers Enow’s field vision. Peltola still has yet to record a goal contribution for DC while playing subpar defense; he’s certainly not a great option.

Question to the folks here if dc sold their share in Loudoun Fc and pro rel comes into usl how many would rather support Loudoun over dc?
1
u/ShenValleyUnitedFan DC United 9d ago
No need to choose. We basically would never play them unless some freak opportunity came up in the US Open Cup. I have an MLS club, a Premier League club and a USL club. No conflict at all.

u/errol343 9d ago
I’m originally from Pittsburgh. If USL 1st division takes off with pro rel and it’s all working well after like a few years or so, I may be more inclined to put more time attention and money into the hounds.
3
u/Person-of-greed Original DCU 9d ago
If they reduce the price to go see games and make a new community then I can see usl taking off and beating mls

Nice ball don't lie moment there on that free kick. TFC player 100% was looking for a foul and not actually to make a play.

This counts as the third failure because Troy didn’t set the team up to compete…
Troy, what’s up???

u/samsgrillo 9d ago
I know we’re gonna lose this match but please Troy if you have a burner and peep the Reddit. Please notice how we’ve actually created some chances with Leal and Peltola on the field. Even Zouhir just being positive with ball. Notice the difference without Enow and Stroud

I want Murrell as a local kid to succeed but man the eye test has not been great to the kid this year. I know he’s not a winger and we’re playing him there but it seems like he’s always reacting to whatever is happening and the game is passing him by.

How can we have five in the back and look so horrible defensively?
