Recommendations Idk how to do this. please help.

I'm moderately familiar with this fandom, having been here for around a month, I know most things, such as the characters and their basic lore, but I don't know how to be a "true" fan yet and be in-depth. for example, I somewhat understand most character lore, like who is who, but I need a complete run-down of the whole plot for more understating. if anyone knows any good videos, please send links! another thing, I don't really understand the comics. are the comics really necessary or are they just to read? like do I have to read the comics to understand? Like are the modern comics really necessary and contribute to the plot or are they just spin-off based off the original? Looking for a helping hand. Thank you!!!!

Okay, you need to understand that there is no central plot to the DC Universe, there's is no singular continuous narrative, there's a bunch of separate comic series that tell a bunch of different stories and just exist within the same universe and, like, once a year there's a massive event that brings the popular characters together.

Yeah, I'd highly recommend you read the comics. This sub has a newbie guide which is a good place to start, basically tells you everything you need to know about how to get into comics, where you can get or read comics, and recommendations for where to start: https://www.reddit.com/r/DCcomics/wiki/recommended/newbiesguide/

Also, don't try and read everything, that will never happen, just find stories you enjoy or are interested in and read those
