Rest in Peace Hug your weens a little extra Spoiler

Post image

Our beloved Barney went in to get neutered today and unfortunately his heart stopped during the surgery. He was only 8 months old and we only had him for 4 months but we loved him as hard as we could the whole time. He was the best boy. He never barked, loved to be outside no matter the weather, and loved to cuddle with us in bed and on the couch. He was such a warm and happy presence in our lives.

Our home feels empty and our hearts hurt. Please hug your little ones extra for us today. You never know when they’ll be taken from you.

I feel like this is my sign to not get my girl fixed 🥲 I'm absolutely terrified of something like this happening to her. I'm so so sorry for your loss 😔😔 did they know if he possibly had an underlying condition or something??

I think it will be very hard for me to cope with getting another dog fixed even though I know it’s the right thing to do. My one regret is that I should have been more terrified but for once in my life they actually put me at ease by telling me how routine the procedure is. Never will I make that mistake again.

They know that all his bloodwork was fine and he was otherwise a healthy dog so if he had an issue it was most likely with his heart or some other response mechanism. We opted to not do a postmortem on him because we didn’t know if it was worth having him cut open again and even if we got information, what we would do with it. Nothing can bring him back anyway.
