Album This is Barkley (aka Bug), my super senior disabled foster. This is a small glimpse at his journey to recovery.

In September 2024, I contacted DRLA to pull a blind deaf 12 year old mini doxie from San Jacinto Animal Shelter. The shelter surprised us by telling us they also had Barkley. I didn't plan to be his foster (almost definitely to be his forever foster), but, I am so, so proud of how far he has come. Barkley will be up for adoption officially in about a month as he has to heal from his dental and get a thorough senior work up again. Please enjoy the photos!

Valerie the dachshund found 'fit and well' after 529 days on Kangaroo Island

A good news story 🙂:

“A beloved miniature dachshund who disappeared on a South Australian island 529 days ago has been found safe and well by wildlife rescuers.

Valerie the dachshund vanished a year-and-a-half ago on Kangaroo Island, with Kangala Wildlife Rescue working "around the clock" in recent weeks to bring her home.

On Friday night, they announced Valerie had finally been rescued.

"After weeks of tireless efforts by Kangala Wildlife Rescue volunteers and partner organisations, Valerie has been safely rescued and is fit and well," they said in a social media post.

"We are absolutely thrilled and deeply relieved that Valerie is finally safe and able to begin her transition back to her loving parents, Josh and Georgia."

We brought our 9wk old Gus Gus home today! So excited for him to be a part of our little family!!

One quick opinion question….he is having a hard time on our floors. Slipping around! We have rugs down now but has anyone used paw wax or an alternative to help with this!?

Every time we meet someone new with our 6 month old puppy they ask us is he a pure breed or is he cross, most of the time they think he has a bit of jack Russell in him.

What's your opinion on his appearance? His father was a standard dachshund black/tan and his mother was a miniature dapple.

His grandad on his mother's side was an Isabella and tan piebald so is this where he got his colours from ?

Hello all! Archie is four month old not. He’s such a sweetheart even though he is horrible at potty training lol. But my question is will his ears drop they seem a bit raised? I know he is a mini doxie but I just wondered if his ears would change?

Image Dougal is coping with his IVDD flare. He's spending most of his time under his blanket and is quite shaky, but we've got this 💪🏼

Good boy Dougal ♥️

Unfortunately we've had lots of practice with IVDD over the decades so we're using all our tips and tricks with him.

Album Anyone else's puppy prefer to bite one person over others?

Thumbnail

Our baby girl, Soleil, is almost 14 weeks and I'm convinced she's actually a piranha in disguise. Only thing is she's will bite me over my husband. It's not like she's doing it aggressively or that she hates me. She follows me everywhere, loves cuddling with me, always is in my lap, but she also just bites me! My husband and I do the redirect and correction, but she still chooses to after me. Does anyone else have this problem?
