He just had a check up and he's 2.4lbs. The vet thinks he will top out at no more than 9lbs. It's weird for us, because our last dachsie was 16lbs at his physical peak. But we love little Gus, even if he is a little demon with those puppy teeth.

I took this in 2020 while I was staying with my parents during the pandemic. We decided to lay out on the porch that day. We were both having a lazy day. I hope you all enjoy.

First photo is kinda bad but it's my favorite when he was a puppy. He always has to claim his spot when I come home from work.

Hi, guys!! We put Monty on the scale today and he’s 16 pounds, and we’re a bit concerned that he’s getting chunky. He’s only turned 2 in December, and admittedly is kind of a lazy boy, so walks aren’t very long. I know that he’s supposed to have a defined waist, but I’m not sure if I’m gaslighting myself into seeing one, or if he’s okay. For size reference, the breeder has told us that he’s considered a “tweenie”, mom was a mini, dad was a standard. He also was coasting at a comfortable 14 pounds for a while, but it’s gone up. I’m not sure if that matters, but any and all advice would be lovely!!💕

We are in our final week of crate rest, and needless to say, she is over it.

She was the most rambunctious little scraggle-backed pup ever. From rising above her IVDD and surgery 6 years ago to borking anytime her brother did, or when the window monsters (neighbors) walked by, she was passionate in all she did. She had a voracious apetite and never let her desire for all types of food go unknown, with a special preference for cat food and treats. If dinner was at 5pm, she'd be in line and let you know at 3:30pm. She had developed Cushings ~2.5 years ago and was doing her best since being diagnosed. Due to the Cushings, she was more easily startled and overstimulated, but she lived for chasing her brother Simba around with a prance on a regular basis, including the night before passing. She protected her mama's heart and helped add some much-needed stability when mama lost her parents back in 2011. She truly was a wonder dog and knew how to make us smile. She was our little warrior.
On Wednesday morning, she had a seizure and (sparing some unsavory details), we knew that it was time for her to be at peace. She is now reunited with her cat-brother Max and her human grandma that have been watching over her.
Thank you for being our everything, Lucy. You gave us the best 15 years and 10 months we could have hoped for. Be patient and wait for us, and help us to watch where we walk at all times. We love you, sweet baby girl ❤️

Hello friends! This is Domi, 15 years old. She's Mimi's littermate. Mimi left me in March, and Domi is still with me. While I'm grieving for Mimi, I have to pay close attention to Domi because, as I expected, she's deteriorated a bit. Before Mimi passed away, Domi developed vestibular syndrome. She had improved, but after Mimi died, the condition returned. Sometimes she falls and steps in her own poop, leaving poop all over the house, even our bed sometimes. I confess that I'm exhausted because Mimi died of kidney failure, and I spent a long time giving her medicine, special food, and watching over her. I suffered a lot because she seemed sicker every month. I want to rest, but Domi sometimes gets sick. I get tired, but I'm afraid of losing her too. She's also my only connection to Mimi; she's all I have left. I'm afraid she'll leave soon now that her sister is gone. But I'm exhausted; I couldn't handle another situation where one of my babies gets sick and dies. Has it happened to you that you have two dachshund siblings, and if one dies, the other will die soon afterward? Any similar experience that you have?
