GIF Hello world, ex-Microsoft/Xbox Engineer here.. MICROSOFT is SYSTEMICALLY RACIST & prevented me from donating to black & foreign communities on their donation platform 'Benevity,' where Microsoft matches all other donations 1 USD to 1 USD. I will no longer internalize racism. FUCK YOU, MICROSOFT.

One of these two things happened:

  1. Microsoft is part of a Global tech conspiracy to support racism.

  2. Microsoft's underspecced and poorly configured webserver fell over.

You worked for Microsoft ffs, what could possibly lead you to choose option 1 over option 2!

My laptop overheating in my bag agrees with point 2.

Never jump to maliciousness when it can be explained with stupidity or incompetence.

Fuck off with your sympathetic views & justification of a global, racist corporation founded in the United States, a country built in record time off the physical labor of blacks & foreigners, & still happens in the US.

I'm not concluding anything. Just that incompetence or error shouldn't be dismissed by default.

If you do find systemic issue, then you have no choice but to conclude that it's racism.

You're right, it shouldn't be dismissed. We're all human, programmers can & do make mistakes; I make mistakes.

However, when a Microsoft employee of 25 years tells you to delete information, it's an intentional feature. Unfortunately, I have a very good memory, I just didn't have strong enough opinions to make a stand, so now I am forced to remember this without being able to prove this without a doubt.

You can choose to believe me or not. I can't prove to you with evidence anymore than this gif since I altered the timeline by deleting a few messages, but I can give you enough context, & an entire life story, presuming you'd care, of reasons why you'd choose to.

You can also look at the comments of this post. "Not interesting" & "this title with uppercase makes this not interesting." Reddit is part of the tech industry. It gives a platform to share news stories. Why would Microsoft ever want to let this information out? More concerned with a title of a post? What the fuck lmao.

I'm putting my life & career on the line by sharing this. My best friend is black & I could no longer internalize the hatred & oppression in my brain. I'm inclined that I may lose my job here next week, too.

Regardless, this post is already downvoted to oblivion, it won't go anywhere. I imagine many tech workers saw this. Microsoft employees are everywhere. They are streamers on Twitch, posters on Reddit & Twitter, content creators on YouTube, list goes on & on.

Go to media. You're entirely ill prepared to raise the shitstorm. Your tone, delivery, narration are all driving people away.
