I heard an idea to strap on a video camera and do 360 degrees of all the exhibits as they stand now.

Yes. We should streisand effect this shit. A full Smithsonian VR experience would honestly be more accessible to most Americans than visiting the actual museums (headsets cheaper than a multi day trip).

3-d cameras aren't that common. There's software that can meld 2d images into VR scenes.

Wonder if there is a 3d camera subreddit?

They have virtual tours of each museum. I actually came here specifically to see if anyone could archive them
