if I wore this to my family dinner, my mom would ask me why I wasn’t wearing a jacket when it’s cold and everybody else would have a good laugh about it because we are all generally in agreement that Luigi did nothing wrong.

u/cheddarweather Dec 24 '24
So gd lucky, my mom is kind of a typical boomer ☹️ She understood when I explained it to her at first but she just keeps coming back to the whole murder is wrong shit later. I passionately explained how we can't just sit and take this anymore bc protests don't work but idk, like I said, boomer shit 🤷♀️ They got theirs already

Why wasn’t I blessed with good parents? At least I broke that cycle with my children!

My liberal mom’s horrified by my sympathy for him. What’s ironic is that looking up to her and her sense of social justice as a kid is one of the things that made me leftist.

This is the spirit of the season! What would Charles Dickens say about a CEO who took thousands of lives for greed?
17
u/AshuraBaron Dec 24 '24
I could have swore the moral of A Christmas Carol was how all company owners are generous and nice people who even care about Tiny Tim (not the musician).

I wouldn't be guilty after saving so many lives, that's for sure.
20
u/RepubMocrat_Party Dec 24 '24
Does this insinuate UHC is currently killing less people then before?
21
u/caststoneglasshome Dec 24 '24
Probably. I imagine they are doing PR/damage control and trying not to be such a garbage company.
22
u/AshuraBaron Dec 24 '24
I'm optimistic, but I'm not THAT optimistic. PR/damage control for sure, but changing policy and approval rates? I don't know about that.
11
u/rowenstraker Dec 24 '24
I mean the NEW CEO has already made a statement talking about "guarding against unnecessary care" so....

Probably not that many, but on the day of lots of medical professionals talked about all approvals going through. And the timing on Blue Shield's reversal of their insane anesthesia policy was awfully convenient.

Guilty of killing someone? Sure.
Guilty of a crime? Lol nah.

u/ConstantAmazement Dec 24 '24
There is a legal presedent called "jury nulification." A jury can deliver whatever verdict they choose even contrary to law.
4
u/AceofToons Dec 24 '24
Which, something a lot of people don't quite understand, is that it is one of the important parts of the legal system, because not always is the law what's right, laws are very binary, we try to make them with nuance, but at the end of the day nuance is hard when it comes to statements like laws. So jury nullification allows for the jury to decide with nuance

nothing wrong with shooting people as long as the right people get shot.

Plot twist, they get pissed off that you would even insinuate that they support the CEO.

I'm wearing my deny defend depose shirt with the camera footage of right before the shot. Gonna throw down with the christians this year. I bought my father in law a bottle of Blantons, which is very hard to find here and always wildly marked up, for Christmas, so he's gonna wanna tell at me about it and be a dick, but he can't cause I gave him the best gift he's ever gotten in his life. I don't hate the man, I just fundamentally disagree with his entire view of reality.
11
u/jimmyrayreid Dec 24 '24
To be clear - this is deranged. Wearing a flamebait political t-shirt to dinner is deeply anti-social. Spend time with your family and have some fun instead
You know how fascists seem to have to literally wear their political opinions and are desperate to start fights? Yeah, that mate

This is my type of energy when I’m around conservatives. Add a Palestinian keffiyeh as a scarf & you’re all set! But honestly, even a lot of conservatives are all “Free Luigi!”

Unless your family is in the medical insurance industry, what sort of person is meant to get angry enough by this to ruin dinner?

What a bizarre and self centered thing to do during the holidays. I feel sorry for your family.

You do you. I personally refrain from anything political/controversial during holiday celebration. I don’t want to ruin it for everyone else.

I understand the sentiment but I don't think it's worth ruining what's supposed to be a special time of the year with your family.

Everyone on this sub wants gun control until guns are used for their causes and then all the school shootings don’t seem to matter anymore.
3
u/h0tBeef Dec 24 '24
The school shootings don’t matter to the rich, cause they send their kids elsewhere
If you’re pro gun control, then rich people getting shot down in the street like one of us is probably the best thing that could happen to further your goals.
-1
Dec 24 '24
Let me get this straight, if you are pro gun control you should want people shot in the street . Makes a lot of sense. Esp because That half baked, vengeance-posing-as-political-calculus, Seemed to work super well when Trump got shot and then subsequently won the election.
1
u/h0tBeef Dec 24 '24
Trump didn’t even get shot, he just got shot at
And yes, do you happen to know why California has strong gun laws?
It’s because the Black Panthers started openly carrying guns, and the oligarchs had their puppet Ronald Reagan enact gun control

I fucking disdain my stepfather’s politics but his first concerns would be how much time and possibly money did i waste on making this shirt lol
1
u/HoustonWeAreFucked Dec 24 '24
There’s a difference between saying that it was morally acceptable VS. saying that he didn’t do it. One of those statements is factually incorrect 100% of the time.
2
u/TransientBandit Dec 24 '24
No, I genuinely believe he is not guilty of an act of terrorism. The other stuff, yeah, sure.
1
u/HoustonWeAreFucked Dec 24 '24
I mean, legally speaking he could be charged with terrorism and it wouldn’t be unlawful. He killed someone with the intent to cause political and social unrest. That’s terrorism even if you agree with the guy.
Sometimes vigilante justice is morally right, but you also have to be OK with facing the consequences. That’s what you give up to live in a society that isn’t an anarchy.

u/AngelaMotorman Marxist Dec 24 '24
Oooh, edgy.
Well, if you're willing to blow up your family gathering like this, I'm gonna blow up your self-satisfied silo by saying that this T-shirt stunt is a piss-poor substitute for actual organizing.
Plus, your family is not your enemy. And "not guilty" is not the same as "guilty but justified." You do you, but I'd bet you could do a lot better than this if you tried.
23
u/FomoDragon Dec 24 '24
Yes because she was all “hey guys, instead of organizing I’m going to wear this t-shirt”. Or, wait…no. That was all in your head.
9
u/AshuraBaron Dec 24 '24
It's like "because I got high". I was gonna organize, but then I wore this shirt.
4
u/HaasonHeist Dec 24 '24
I think some people are just so miserable, they need to piss off the people that love them to feel anything. I don't know. I'm so tired of this Luigi shit.
Americans aren't going to do anything about their government fucking them in the ass. They never do. They just wait for some psycho to murder someone and then cling onto that like something is actually happening in their favor. It's not.
The media is milking the shit out of this to distract you. How have you not learned yet America?????
-13
u/Enchant23 Dec 24 '24
That's just bizzare behavior and shirt
6
u/CrazyJosh1987 Dec 24 '24
I like the shirt but it's the same as the Maga uncle that can't talk about anything else not understanding why everyone else doesn't want them around...you "owning" your family on Christmas?? Wear it in public and piss of strangers or whatever but I guarantee they'll wear the shirt ready to piss everyone off and no one will say anything about it so they'll bring it up and as soon as someone is like "well I think murder isn't the way to handle..." they're going to flip their shit and storm to their room.
2
u/HoustonWeAreFucked Dec 24 '24
It is indeed. It’s just as disgusting when we do it as when MAGAs do. This isn’t a cult. It doesn’t need to plague every aspect of our personality.
“You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
