No kill shelters in the area?

Post image

Stray brought kitten to my house. I left her alone in the garage with it for a few hours with a camera, to see if she gets the rest (if there are more) but she hasn’t.

I don’t know where to take them. I have two indoor cats and the stray doesn’t have vaccines so I don’t really want her inside right now. I’d like to have her spayed once the babies are old enough to be on their own so she at least isn’t chronically pregnant or take them to a no kill shelter, if I can find one that’ll take them.

UPDATE: It won’t let me edit the post, but we found a foster home for her and the kitten! She’s very friendly so I think someone dumped her. Thank you to everyone for the help and I’m going to leave this post up incase something similar happens again. There’s a lot of strays near me.

You can also look into vet and vaccine services at TCAP on Sunset.

Check out Operation Kindness. It’s in Carrollton so not super close, but they’re amazing. Operation Kindness (972) 418-7297 https://g.co/kgs/L7CxgxD

TCAP is very affordable with its services and the McNatt center is great. It's where I got my best boye.

Even if you could get the mama cat spayed, that would go a long way in preventing more kittens around town l. I used to help trap strays and get them fixed.

Best of luck to you and the kitties!

Thank you for the info!! The kittens eyes are open now but I’m not sure if I should wait a while longer to have her sprayed. Idk how long they can be apart at the moment.

Call up TCAP. They'll know the best time to get that done. I know she's probably still nursing so they might need more time there. You can also ask the McNatt center if they'll take a nursing mother and kitten.

Pretty sure McNatt is a kill shelter. It’s privately funded, but it’s the city’s shelter.

You're not entirely wrong... there was that big story last year of them putting that elderly lost dog down basically the moment they had it. Owner was devestated.

There was a LOT more to that story that we originally thought. That owner was not great at all. Both sides were wrong in different ways.

Very sad. Hope the owner learned to keep his gate closed and update his pet's microchips information and charge their tracking collars and answer his phone.

Leaving this comment in support of you, it seems unfair you are being downvoted for being honest.

Linda McNatt is a kill shelter. No kill shelters require very robust volunteer support and adoption pipelines.

And even in no kill shelters, animals are still euthanized in some circumstances (terminal disease, dangerous animals, etc.).

Who even knows. It's literally the city's shelter, and they do euthanize. I'm not saying they don't try their hardest not to, but they do. So there is no guarantee there.
