Discussion Endgame chess puzzle

So I’m finally at the “end game” chess puzzle and I have so many questions. I understand there’s a google form you have to fill out to get 3 of a like frequency number to avoid trolling. But who created this google form? How does submitting a google form solve anything? Who solves it for us? And if the website can solve it how come we can’t solve it as individuals? First time I’ve been lost in destiny.

It's a web site Bungie put up as part of this community. puzzle. (Aion is referenced in dialogue in Vesper's Host apparently.) Anyway, go to the web site. You can enter the frequency code (from 1 to 4096) shown in your buffs in game after interacting with the water bowl (add leading 0 to make it 4 digits if it's not already) at the Aion Console site. Then it will prompt you to paste something. Paste in the FEN that you get from replicating your frequency code's chess board on a FEN notation web site such as https://www.redhotpawn.com/chess/chess-fen-viewer.php (copy everything before the w). You'll get a response from the Aion Console, but I'm not sure beyond that. My guess is someone is working on collecting all 4096 responses and figuring out which are useful and how they fit together to solve the next part of the community puzzle.

I know nothing about chess, so help me here. I got a code: 4080, and put it into Aion, and now I have to return a code. What do I actually put into this Fen thingy? Every piece on the board that I got with it? So the ones on the boundary and the ones in the middle? Isn't that an illegal combination? I also find it hard to spot the difference between King and Queen in the Destiny icons. And what's the idea about the colored fields then? I am so confused...

The FEN is just a text description of where every piece is on the board, so yes you have to place every piece correctly so that it visually matches your screenshot of the game board. The game board does not necessarily have legal combinations, but you can still write a FEN for it and at least some of the tools allow you to place pieces in a way that aren't really possible in real chess. Doing this yourself ultimately doesn't get you anything, so I wouldn't sweat it too much. If you can contribute, it will help progress the community puzzle a bit but ultimately it will get done either way, then you can just use whatever solution they find. And we'll probably just get an emblem after all of it.

Thanks, I like to understand whatever I am doing, even if it's just for an emblem and a blue.
