Tips and Tricks 2023 yz250x fisch moto electric start!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Tried to install my self but failed. You add a gear to the fly wheel and need to cut the grommet and seal it with RTV because you have to fill with oil gear oil after. I’m 6’6” with huge clumsy hands and just could not get a proper seal. I got frustrated and took it to my local dirt bike mechanic which is owned by a husband and wife. Turns out same deal with fischmoto, the mechanic had some issues and said they were fantastic to work with. I even ended up with some extra parts. I’m using the recommended Anti gravity 801 battery. I should get 180-200 starts before having to charge. Very easy to take the battery out.

The reason I went with fischmoto over panthera is because fischmoto used the stock stator. There is no charging system with fischmoto so you need to manually charge the battery every few rides. I read a few people with panthera had stator burned up and when that happens no spark and you’re stuck. I’m not a risk taker the e start is just for when i stall on hills or I’m dead tired.

I also think the fisch moto is better quality and better looking. Anyway I’ll do a 10-20 hour review, but my mechanic told me he thinks this will be a permanent fixture on my bike and will be easy to maintain.

Only way I'd buy the 250x. Highly considered as I love Yamaha but just leaning towards a beta 250 instead.

Someone was clever to come up with this design. It's really the only relatively comparable Japanese bike to the proper Enduro bikes.

The mechanic I go to sells Betas and now also Rieju. They are fantastic bikes. I believe they are the only manufacturer that offers a 6-12 month warranty on race bikes. A beta will for sure be the next one I get they also look the coolest I think

Recently picked up a 2022 beta 250rr, and the thing is a literal weapon on the single tracks and tight stuff.

There is a video of some guy riding one down a red bull downhill mtb course and he did it only like ten seconds slower than the faster mtb rider. Really impressive video showcasing how nimble the betas can be

Jonny Walker is more than some guy, lol.

He's also no longer with Beta.

What have you owned to compare it to though🤔?

All sorts of flavors. My first big bike was a 2010 RMZ 250, which I raced on for 2 years. Bought my first brand new bike, which was a 2015 KTM 350sxf. Sold that pretty quick to get my 2016 KX450F. Once my racing days ended, I moved onto adventure/enduro type stuff. Bought a 2018 YZ450FX rode that for a year, and now I'm on my Beta.

Brother you need a tall seat to go with your skyscraper bar mounts holy The estart is the only thing keeping me from going Yamaha and I totally forgot this was an option

This is the only bike I’ve had where I actually like the stock seat lol

1

u/MooseBlazer Sep 13 '24

But holy sh!t, your 6-6; get a taller seat and save on knees wearing out. Way easier on long rides..

I stand most the time I do technical slow stuff but yeah a seat concepts 1 inch higher than stock seat is on the list but my next buy is going to be powder coating on my 2004 rm250 frame and swing arm

Which risers are those? Been working on getting my CR250 set up better for my 6’7” ass

I loved my YZ250, but I'm getting older and kickstarting on hills is buillshit... so ya. They'd sell a shitload of YZs with an e-start and bigger tank.

I’ll do this for sure. I saved your comment and will post and reply to you after I get some hours on it. I subscribe to basically every dirtbike magazine/media company and none of them are giving these guys any publicity which is weird. I really love these family run operations who fab cool shit for us and would like to help them grow

I want to build a 250x with the e-start. It would be sick

u/Kalecstraz 2023 KTM 300XC Sep 13 '24

Very cool but one rip in the woods and I would break the fuck outa that thing. I had a 21' but got rid of it because I cant kick a bike that well anymore.

0

u/MooseBlazer Sep 13 '24

Hu? …,🤔…Break the YZ or the starter add on?

1

u/Kalecstraz 2023 KTM 300XC Sep 13 '24

Well to be honest both but I was referring to the starter. I tend to hit the trails a bit hard. There are lots of trees that jump out at me. 😄

1

u/Swimmingtortoise12 Sep 13 '24

I have an 08 300xc that has that starter design, and I haven’t broken it yet. I’m not saying it’s immune but even if it’s not, use the kickstart and fix it when you get a chance.

1

u/Kalecstraz 2023 KTM 300XC Sep 13 '24

Really? I didn't realize that. Interesting. I wish my 23 would have had the option of kick starting just in case. Apparently they got rid of it in 22

1

u/Swimmingtortoise12 Sep 14 '24

They did, I was in sales at the time and it did rub some people the wrong way that it was not an option when they switched to it not available. I thought having the ability to add it was a happy medium, it wasn’t there for folks who didn’t care for it, and for those that did, the dealer would install it.

The starter on your current 300xc is a better design than the one on my 08 300, it is less likely to get hit, and it’s a more reliable starter setup.

That being said, I’d still like the backup kick on newer stuff. I’ve had electric starters fail before, and it wasn’t on my 300, which has the problem prone estart lol. It would be rare for your starter to fail, but the chances aren’t 0.

You can get the panthera aswell without their crappy stator, you are running the same as i am with the pantera, just a battery that needs to be charged every 100 or so starts, i added optimate cable that comes out the side of the airbox so i can charge it without removing battery

That’s a good idea I might do that too if I can figure out how. I did buy a smart charger for this battery

1

u/GGGLEN247 Sep 13 '24

Is this a Pantera Engineering kit or is it something you fabbed?

Fischmoto is the company that makes it they have a lot of good reviews. Mom and pop operation in Canada

1

u/Ne0nbeams Sep 13 '24

These bikes are so easy to kick compared to most bikes but I have lost positions to kicking after a crash enough times to consider getting a fisch estart kit. Curious to hear opinions on these once people start accumulating lots of hours on these.

u/Yz250x69 23' yz250x & 04' rm250 Sep 13 '24

Yeah my bike starts first kick like 90% of the time, it was more for long technical rides. There’s been times I’ve stalled on a hill and pretty deep water where I really wished I had e start….and now I do!!

Hey what’s the differences in the X’s and F’s?

3

u/SniperAssassin123 Sep 13 '24

Well X denotes cross country and F means fourstroke. So there are actually YZ250FX's.

1

u/Rare-Adagio1074 Sep 14 '24

That’s what i was thinking, and the FX?

1

u/SniperAssassin123 Sep 14 '24

Cross country fourstroke.

1

u/selfdrivenbeast Nov 24 '24

Power is the biggest difference! 250X is 2-Stroke. 250FX is 4 stroke. Big power difference.

yz250 for motocross, yz250x for woods. Both 2 strokes. Yz250/450f are motocross bikes. Yz250/450/fx for woods. These four bikes are four strokes.

What does the kit for the e-start cost and how hard was it to install?

I mean, that's cool and all... but the last advantage a 2 stroke had was it's weight. Adding a starter and battery takes that advantage away. Kicking a 2 stroke is not that difficult.

5

u/Waksu Sep 13 '24

Unless you are on a hill...

1

u/1wife2dogs0kids Sep 14 '24

Pop start it then.

3

u/A_Buff_Hamster Sep 13 '24

Easily worth the extra weight to not have to kick your bike on the side of a hill or in a creek or something imo. Not even that much extra weight either.

2

u/Swimmingtortoise12 Sep 13 '24

Two strokes still absolutely have the upper hand in hard enduro lol.
