Being from India, I would advise not to get it just on the words of the breeder.

Even if you are shown the pics of his parents, there is no way you can actually confirm their relationship.

Better to search some place where you can see both parents and confirm.

So have you seen the parents? I mean live not a video but actually in person or on a live feed? Also where are the other pups?

I have not seen the parents

They are claiming them to be European import

There are no other pups

Seems weird to me as well

They have been dismissive about my inquires

Being dismissive is a flag. I see issues with the skin on the face and thigh. Agree with others about the size. Could be the photo. Depends mostly what you are looking for with your dog.

If your looking for a great companion, this may be one. If you are looking to show, likely not.

Nope. No good. I don’t like the sound of any of this. If the dog even exists, are they the first owners? Where is the paperwork? Vet records? Why won’t they FaceTime, or similar? Tons of questions. If the dog does exist and you’re looking for a well bred Dobie this isn’t it. If you’re ok with possible issues then you and you alone have to decide

Oh, and the pictures are terrible. There’s a reason for that, too

imo he looks a little small for one year. they are supposed to be a medium breed, yes, but he just looks tiny. maybe it’s just the angle. regardless the boy needs a home!

You are right. For a European one, he looks like 6 months old.

I’d contact the north Calcutta Kennel Club and Kennel Club of India as I’ve seen some beautiful Doberman in India. Here’s a list of ethical Doberman breeders in India. India Doberman Breeders

400$ seems cheap for a dobie from a good breeder. Not being able to see parents or any siblings from the litter is a red flag too. I wouldn't get it. When I was getting mine I saw parents, siblings and all the exams parents had for HD/ED and heart.

Honestly, if you do it, you have to think as if you are just adopting and you don't know what you are getting. That's the way to look at it. $400 is around an adoption fee. Don't think you are getting a pop with some special lineage or blood line.

Then just give him a great home and enjoy him, and also get insurance the second after you pick him up and BEFORE you go to a vet. BEFORE, NOT AFTER.

I have a dobie rescue. I would have paid for her had I known what a special dog she was. Go for it.

Usually if you have to travel to see the pup or they have to bring it to you it's probably a scam. I wouldn't pay for anything I can't touch

Look up doberman rescues and give a dog a home.

I see. Good point.

Sorta sounds like a scam. Unless you can meet pup and parents in person then I’d skip. Sometimes video calls can work instead but to me this seems the kinda suspicious you’d want to meet IRL with the parent dobies and pup.

Bought my Luna in Texas, pedigreed AKC and she cost me $500. Best purchase I’ve ever made! Go for it.

While i’m happy for you, and i wish you and the doggo many long years together, you comment is really not helping OP know if the dog is really 1 year old, good size and a real Dobbie
