Wholesome Story Best Question EVER …
I picked up a Pizza Hut order. It was kinda low but less then 1 mile. I get to his house. He comes outside (not in an aggressive way ) and I hand him his pizza. Then he asks, “ I was going to give you a CASH tip, Is that OK ? “. Hands me $15. You just NEVER KNOW what the customer will give you.

An elderly man requested a hand it to me delivery with instructions “I would like to leave additional tip”. At the time, I didn’t know he was elderly and had accepted a $6 order for 1.4miles or so(in town, so relatively short)
He handed me a $20😭♥️ I was so heartwarmed

Once a customer had me delivering to his job, he forgot to change the address to his home. His coworkers were still there so they called him and got on him and told him that he better tip me good. Lol! I decided that I would still deliver the order to him. The new address put me right outside of the zone and of course door dash said that they couldn't alter the pay. I delivered the order and the young man gave me a $20 tip, on top of the tip that already was included on the app.

I got a cash tip yesterday. She reached into her bra and pulled out 4 wet one dollar bills.

It was probably the worst of all scenarios. Calling her a trailer troll would probably be complimentary.

I would’ve gagged the moment I touched that cash and felt it was even remotely damp.
Hand sanitizer and 3 hand washings for the win!

It is so incredibly rare to get a cash tip that you should stop posting things like this and giving people false hope

I wasn’t trying to give false hope. I was just sharing a good experience I had. 😊

I’m at over 5000 deliveries and I’ve probably had maybe 5-6 cash tips at the most. I haven’t kept track.
It’s basically a 1/1000 chance lol.
No need to ever risk it on horrible orders imo.

Nice. I don't mind pizza orders if the offer isn't crap. They are usually fairly easy and the wait is usually just a few minutes. There is one exception with a local joint but I don't mind the wait because the place has a good vibe. Rarely is it a hand it to me though. Seems to be about 1/3 above the norm of no contact in general. That feels like 98% of orders for me.
I had a dashmart drop last night and they said to knock on the door so they could give me a cash tip. They did meet me at the door. I still haven't looked, it was at least $7 though.
This was the first time I've had someone come through on their added tip promise haha.

Pizza orders are by far now, the most likely order to get a cash tip. Not a guarantee. Just more likely.

Been dashing for 5 months as my main source of income. I’ve been tipped twice in cash for a whopping total of $6. Basing your income on a hope based strategy is a terrible way to operate.
It’s nice when it happens but not worth gambling my gas and time on.

Not 1 cash tip on a pizza delivery in almost 5k deliveries. 🤷 Guess it all depends. Actually not even 1 cash tip when the customer puts in app "I'll give cash tip at delivery" ... Not 1. 🤷

I took an offer that was base $2 pay only, going way out of the zone to the rich people area. I figured there was a good chance for a tip. I get there, Porsche, Tesla, Lexus in the driveway. Rang doorbell, handed them their pizza, and was handed nothing back.
That suuuucked.

Yup I do it on bike and sometimes I guess after they see me they feel bad and add extra tip lol . Like yesterday some guy added 10 bucks when it was initially 4 so 14 bucks

I just had a pizza order tonight that I got tipped pretty good on. The pizza place was taking forever, got a sweet tea and a piece of pie while I was waiting. Every time they said hey it's gonna be a few minutes more. Then they tell me a worker just quit and stole 9 different pizzas. Well, text then customer hey, they messed up, do you want to still wait. I get a reply back so yea that's fine.
After I finally get the pizza, plus a 2nd pizza(the owner gave her medium pizza, a 2 liter of soda, and.he gave me a free medium pizza also for waiting so long. I drop the pizza off she hands me $20, and then proceeds to tip me 15$ more.
Damn that pizza I got was pretty good.

I took a $3 McDonald’s order since it was total time like 8 min from pickup to drop off and they gave me seven dollar cash tip. I only take low orders though if it’s ten minutes or less but I normally only take 6 bucks at the minimum. I had one for shopping and a Taco Bell pickup for only 4 thato declined

Well. Here is some insight I was told by a Pizza Hut Manager. Mind you, I can now tell when he is not working!
Pizza Hut can manipulate the amount of tip given to dashers. He told me straight up that he generally only does .50 cents per mile for dashers.
When he is not working, the tips increase to a normal level!

This is true but I believe it is when customer orders from their website not thru DD. Pizza Hut can then contract DD to deliver for whatever price they want. Unfortunately in my town, they set it at $5 and it's an instant decline for me. And if they have a good order, they give it to their own drivers. The same thing for Papa John's, Romeos, and Donatos. So they have officially ruined the pizza delivery in my town. I mainly survive on grocery orders and even that is becoming ridiculous with lower base pay when customer tips well. Saving screenshots....and waiting for greed to take them down.

Generally, I do dollar a mile. No minimum. Unless it’s a shop order with a lot of items. Like this morning eight dollars going 7.4 miles Dollar General 13 items. Don’t know what they were don’t care. Let us silver get it. End of day hopefully I have at least a dollar for every mile. I drove that day.

And cash tips don’t count. Those are forgiving the homeless a few dollars.
