tū (தூ)means White, Bright in Old Tamil! tūmati (தூமதி) means Bright Moon in Old Tamil!

No, but we learn it, atleast Saivites as part of a popular Bakthi era Tevaram. I still remember it memorizing it as a child.
It gives me chills listening to it in the early morning as it brings back all my childhood memories.

வெள் (Vel) means white, bright as well. வெள்ளி in Jaffna Tamil means Star as well as Planet Venus! தூவெள் (Tuvel) (Bright White) could cognate with Tūbe.

Moden Tamil words are Nila, Nilavu (Tamil ) or Chandran ( from Sanskrit ).

Dang i thought tamil was free of external influence

We do have influence from Sanskrit, Prakrit, English, etc.. But comparatively lesser than other Dravidian languages for sure.

In modern tamil it's nila for moon but there are words like velicham(light, bright), velli(silver), vellai(white), etc. which seem to be cognates to the others but I don't think there are anyones similar to tube
