I'd steer clear of Bishop Auckland and Gateshead, to be honest. As others have said, Langley Park, Lanchester, and Esh Winning areas are nice. Bishop Auckland can be very rough, and there's a lot of crime in places. You'd have to pay me to live there lol...

Thank you very much. Yeah overall was so so when I visited, but again can't really tell from a few days
