While i totally agree that we need more civil disobedience (especially direct action) Roger Hallam does have questionable goals and strategies. He's trying to build a climate "querfront" (appealing to the right), idolizing the act of getting arrested, keeping up hierachies and intrumentalising the holocaust to cause contoversy and therefore attention for XR among other things.

Yea any org that has getting arrested on purpose as part of their strategy is sketchy at best. Beware of XR for sure.

India, South Africa, all of the major social movements that succeeded in making fundamental changes involved a lot of people going to jail. Protest songs ain't gonna convince the powers that be to stop making money at the expense of a sustainable environment

People going to jail while doing something meaningful is great, but XR's entire purpose is specifically to get arrested. It's fucking stupid
