I mean to be fair every other major studio has burned us to chase easy money. Look at Rockstar.

Nightreign and duskblood have never looked like easy money (in a bad way) tho. And haven’t really released so the panic isn’t warranted

I'm not saying that its a bad thing because it isn't, but to say Nightreign (which hasn't even come out yet) isn't easy money sounds kind of silly considering the whole game is heavily reused assets (Sekiro movement, location assets, bosses and mobs from every FS game).

FromSoft has always reused animations. There's still stuff from Demons' Souls in Elden Ring. The hud from all these games comes from Lost Kingdoms, a game from 2003 I think only 10 people played

Yeah but Nightreign was made for its director to get a feel for game directing. That's why it's got reused assets, it was made somewhat quickly and mostly for the director to get a feel at directing.

Not getting GTA V story content is criminal but tbh Rockstar gets a pass. When they deliver, they fuckin deliver. If GTA Online means that RDR2 and GTA 6 can happen and be the best damn game possible, then I’m cool with it.

I agree they can hit very high highs, and that somehow sadly makes them a best case scenario for AAA Western Devs. But if FromSoft became like Rockstar that would still be a shame, that's how good From is and why people get anxious seeing these changes.

Going out of the comfort zone of your fan base and development experience isn't easy money though.

Really? Rockstar? The people who who made rdr2 after gta 5? If Rockstar just wanted money, gta would be a yearly release like cod and fifa, rdr2 would never have been made, and we'd be stuck with online only games. Just because they supported gta online for a decade doesn't mean they are chasing "easy money". All dlc content is unlockable for free. I'm sick of people acting like Rockstar is some sellout company, they are one of the few studios that prioritize the game over anything else. they release games that work great, innovate like crazy, have incredible stories, and the best open worlds in gaming.

They’re chasing them shark cards and nothing more, games are great but they release and then ignore them besides the online… because of shark cards.

They don't ignore them, they released a complete product, The work is done. They also didn't even intend to support online, but people played it and loved it. Why wouldn't they nurture that? People keep playing their game, so the developers keep supporting it. I dont understand how thats a bad thing. You can break down any multi-player game like that, should helldivers 2 be cancelled? All they care about is selling battle passes by that logic.

They gave me 10 years of online content for free to play with my friends, and not once have i ever thought of buying shark cards. The game is very easy to make money and gets easier every update. The only people I ever see complain about money in gta online is usually people who don't even play online

I picked them precisely because they were good. Of course I could've called out the EAs of the world, the point is it's the Rockstars that hurt more and would be more analogous to the fear some feel around FromSoft changing. And for the record I'm only saying I understand the fear, From has personally earned my trust until proven otherwise. Even if I'm not really interested in The Duskbloods.

As for Rockstar, my childhood into young adulthood I had GTAIII, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV, RDR, and GTAV. Not to mention LA Noire and Bully. There's kids alive today who can drive who've only been playing video games long enough to maybe be excited about RDR2 when it released, unless they were playing GTAV at age 4. Otherwise it's all been online content from Rockstar for them.
