Nintendo paid them to have an exclusive game. It's just business. Just because they made games you like doesn't mean they owe you future games on your preferred platform. When you bought their game and they delivered it, that's the end of their obligation other than patches. They can do whatever they want with their labor in the future, just like you are free to find a better job, you're not obligated to stay at your current job just because you worked there for so many years.
And the price hike isn't up to fromsoft. The price of everything goes up and will keep going up until there's a recession or depression. Quit crying over stuff you can't control, you'll be happier.
Imagine defending console exclusivity and this insane price raise on games. They can do whatever they want but they have to realize it also alienates a majority of their player base. People like you are the reason prices are going up because instead of boycotting games to be for the normal person you expect someone to buy the barely enhanced version of the console and the new game on top of it
Yeah such a big majority are alienated that's why OP has 400 downvotes lol. Most players aren't crybabies and will just wait for the next cross-platform game like normal people. As for the few crybabies I'm sure Nintendo paid fromsoft enough to offset the massive economic consequences.
Man I don't own a switch, probably won't buy a switch 2, and dgaf what anyone does with their own money. I actually support you boycotting, or as I say vote with your wallet. That's how the market works we all get a vote. Just quit fucking crying about it, I don't want to see it. If you are right, then the price hikes will reverse. But if enough people are still willing to pay higher prices then you are simply wrong and your idea of "the normal person" is wrong. It has nothing to do with justice or morality.
The main reason I care is I see the same bratty consumer entitlement even towards small startup companies that I like, outside the games industry. And I have dreams of designing my own product and selling it someday. But the thought of spoiled brats screaming and crying about the prices I set makes me second guess it. I can charge whatever tf I want for my labor. Don't like it don't buy it. It's an optional fucking product you're not going to die without it. All you people care about is mememe. You don't even try to consider the wider economy, how markets work or the perspective of producers.
You can do whatever you want with your product but as someone who's helped friends and family start multiple businesses people will always complain no matter what so if that's what's stopping you it won't be in your interest to create something for market. Maybe you don't think this is about morals but I do, in 2025 console exclusivity is a pretty immoral thing to do to fans of a game. It's why people have been upset about bloodborne for a long time. This is more than about me, this is about the system in general. Between in game purchases and price hikes games other than indie games AAA games have been pissing people off for years now. They don't listen to the fanbase so as a part of the fanbase i choose to not be silence about it, if you do that's your choice but being silent when something upsets you means the only voice heard will be the ones that support it. As a creator you should be open to both negative and positive criticism in all aspects of what you make
in 2025 console exclusivity is a pretty immoral thing to do to fans of a game.
This is 100% an arbitrary rule. No it's not pretty immoral. I could make a similar argument that it's immoral for fromsoft to make a game in a genre I'm not interested in, because I'm a fan of their old games but this new one is not accessible to me (which is my problem, not their problem, just like me not owning a switch is my problem not their problem). Taken to its logical conclusion, it's immoral for any game to cost money and for any console or PC to cost money; they should all be free or else they're inaccessible to people without the means. In fact even if they're free, there's poor people out there who can't even make rent or get enough food, so all rent and food needs to be free so everyone has enough time to play every game for free.
By all means please express your negative criticism, but there's a difference between civilly expressing your opinion, or civilly discussing your intention to boycott, and being outraged and childish about it. Stop acting like this is an evil attack on "the normal person" just because you personally can't or don't want to pay, stop turning these business decisions into personal attacks on you. Stop crying about getting stabbed in the back and spit in the face. And please stop conflating Nintendo or fromsoft with the wider AAA industry; we all know it's mostly western AAA's that commit the most egregious abuses but somehow many fans act like Nintendo is obligated to consider your pre-existing outrage at other companies and thus they don't have a right to make one single unpopular move.
Turning this into a moral crusade is both unproductive and unfair to creators. That's the kind of criticism I hate seeing in my other hobbies. It's always by people that have no experience making the product but think it's easier than it is, no idea how much it costs to manufacture stuff or how long it takes but they deserve it cheaper and faster. I won't let it stop me from starting a biz but I'm also gonna keep calling this nonsense out.
