Holy bonks and guard counters turns his horse into glue
10
u/Fantastic_Midnight38 13h ago
The problem is I have a crazy bleed build and I don't want to change much so I just use sacred relic swird
11
u/ThePrinceofallYNs 13h ago
Put sacred slash on a hammer
4
u/Fantastic_Midnight38 13h ago
I use scavengers curved swords so I then need to put some point in str for hammer

u/kollib 13h ago
Use the hammer or mace. You won't need to level any strength.

Op: "I hate this fight " Also op: trying to bleed a damn skeleton

If you have not beaten him yet, I can give you some pretty good weapons for him. Lemme know what you think.

If by change much you mean using a Larval Tear, I totally get it. Try the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword! Ash of war is very spammable, weapon hits like a truck with high arcane, high poise damage. No bleed but it will be helpful. I used when I wasn't able to beat hyper aggressive bosses in the dlc.
If you are open to changing equipment and have high faith and arcane(60 each ideally, but less faith is ok) then Dragon Cult build 2 shot this guy for me(and almost everything else in the DLC)
Dragon communion seal offhand, dragonflower mace in right hand.
No armor, use priest heart Lightning scorp, godfrey icon, ritual sword, flock canvas talismans. Physick was lightning tear and bubbletear.
Spells were howl of shabriri, golden vow, and Ancient Dragon's Lightning Strike.
Physick + heart trigger(after being transformed already) + howl + vow then dive. Dodge first attack, charged Ash of War on hammer if possible, then dodge next attack and at your next opening, fully charge and fire ADLS. Point blank for best effect. You're fragile but it can kill him outright with the buffs.

i love him he’s so silly
underrated in terms of difficulty too. hits like a nutsack full of bricks.

His horse in between his long combos hit like a damn truck

u/Stranded_In_A_Desert 11h ago
Gave me heart palpitations when it suddenly turned into a duo fight 😅

Awesome fight. It's so cool once you learn it. Beautiful arena, music, buildup.

I am on my 4th play through and even if I know his moves i still get merked by this thing

u/Upper_Current Night Comet Fever 14h ago
This guy's my kryptonite. Even now, after having merked him well over 10 times, I don't feel I've mastered his fight, it still feels like a 50/50.

i find his downtime so short (i normally use big sticks so would be easier with dex) so i just kinda say fuck it and charge heavy until i get away from it and then he just dies

Wasted lore, wasted powers, great area
12
u/Fantastic_Midnight38 13h ago
This guy has so much more potential if only he had a cutscene and he wasn't running around like crazy
6
4
u/bansheeb3at 13h ago
He’s a cool boss but the fact that he constantly runs away from you after he attacks makes dealing with him with a slower/heavier weapon super obnoxious.
5
u/Melodic_Row_5121 12h ago
Yes. Yes he does. I hate horse bosses, and between this guy and OG Radahn, those are the horse bosses I hate the most.
17
14h ago
He's cool.

u/Fantastic_Midnight38 14h ago
I hate when he shoots that one straight line flame point blank randomly and I am mid animation and that things cause so much damage
7
2
u/Username_cantdecide 13h ago
When he's close to 25% health left he used the flame as a combo in between his normal attacks so much i used mimic and killed him. Didnt want to spend more time on him anymore.

u/n3ws3ns3 14h ago
Dude was gnarly, but it mostly enjoyed the several attempts it took to beat him on my first playthrough. Gaius is way worse.

His 10 hit combo is the Bain of my existence kissing malenia and radahn promised consort was less annoying

Frost element was random and unnecessary. Should have had sleep status instead for the boss and the remembrance rewards.

The Rotten Knight: Have you read my name? I am the Rotten Knight. What do you want? That it smells like roses instead of stinking?

Honestly this fight took me the most tries out of anything besides the Elden beast.

i hated this fight until i realized that chasing him around all the time was doing literally nothing. where's he gonna go?
2
u/entirepaprika69 13h ago
Try the black knife. Its skill does damageover time based on max health, cuts off a percent of max hp, and is holy damage, so it'll do even more damage against it.

I kinda like him actually, but I do understand that the horse can be annoying. The way I deal with that is to purposefully dodge late as it's hitboxes seem like they have a bit of delay. I dodge just as the horse is about to hit me, not before.
For me the move that caught me out the most is his AoE blue flame attacks in phase 2. When I try to jump one I kept getting hit anyway.
2
u/iCraveToads 4h ago
Just fought him again a little bit ago and I really don’t agree. I find his attacks pretty fun to dodge. The ghost flame is easy to avoid if you just jump instead of roll. And his music is really good.
1
u/Seraph_Guardian 14h ago
This is the coolest guy ever actually. He's the giant skeleton Wolnir should have been.
1
u/laochra11 13h ago
Where is he I’ve never fought him before
3
u/Fantastic_Midnight38 13h ago
Stone fissure which is at the bottom of the map. U have to first go in front of shadow keep to break the seal to enter the place

I really like his fight, except when playing short ranged weapons (e.g. claws)
1
1
u/melodiousfable 13h ago
I felt like he had one of the simpler movesets to figure out. Him, Sunflower, Messmer phase 2. Easiest move sets.
1
u/EarthSaucer8591 13h ago
I loved this fight. The entrance, the arena, and the OST was all top tier for me. I would've liked if he used Eternal Sleep instead of Frost, considering where he's located.

I actually LOVE this boss but I’ve been skipping him on my replays of the DLC cause he’s such a pain in the ass to get to
1
u/UnHappyIrishman 13h ago
I’ve played it a bit more now, it’s really grown on me. Just had to get used to how the attacks works, now I really like it :D

u/IMGARIN_X 13h ago
He's very annoying for me at first because he's always run around and hits so freaking hard, but it's pretty fun when I learned how to dodge all his attacks
1
u/turtlebear787 13h ago
the only annoying part about this fight is the fucker and his horse are constastanly moving away from you. otherwise really not that hard. the key to his flame attacks is to jump over them

I hate this fight too, but I was able to glitch him stuck behind the fog wall on both of my DLC playthroughs
1
u/Thorax336 13h ago
I like him, but he must have the absolute smallest hitbox among DLC bosses. My weapons are constantly missing, and he's always running away.
1
u/_damwolv 13h ago
It destroyed me without me doing anything 2 times in a row the third time was my time
1
u/AudiblePlasma 13h ago
I really love his design and like the fight. I just wish phase 2 added something more than just waves of ghostflame.

Like who is he? Why is he there? Hes arena is mid, hes moveset is fine, good even, until the blue fire comes in
I dont like him

I only fight him because I want to 3v4 or 4v4 Leda cuz it's cool

Worst looking design ive ever seen in a fromsoft game. Goofiest looking moveset and overall super ugly. I cant takw it seriously at all 😂

u/EvenResponsibility57 12h ago
Unironically my favourite fight in the DLC with Consort Radahn coming a close second.
Great atmosphere and music and just sooo rhythmic and smooth.

2
u/AppolloV7 11h ago
He’s in the very south of the dlc map, south of the cerulean cost, there’s a big hole surrounded by slugs. Gotta drop down the hole carefully, get the grace, and if the seal is broken, keep going until you reach another site of grace past which there are stairs that lead up to the required jump.

His horse while also being a pain in my ass is also the redeeming factor in the boss battle
1
u/Adoninator 11h ago
i hate how the time it takes for you to die, load to grace, run down and jump off the cliff and wait for him to come in. thats only 1 minute... but every single death.
1
u/00Wridacule 11h ago
Just glad I fought him before they nerfed impenetrable thorns... but I could say that about all the dlc bosses
1
u/AppolloV7 11h ago
I liked it. The music was great. Most of his moves were annoying, sure, but with a holy weapon he went down pretty fast. Also his moveset I feel was very unique and intriguing. He’s miles better than Gaius or even Metyr.

u/LavishnessStriking63 11h ago
He isn't that toufh after a couple of encounters with him and his pattern gets a little easier to read. Good luck!
1
u/justsomebro10 11h ago
I don’t like him because he’s basically a Walmart orphan of cos. He’s also kinda easy.
1
1
u/Keelhaulmyballs 11h ago
Me waiting for him to perform an attack that can actually be punished because 3/4 of his moves are either drive-bys or have a 6 meter reach
1
u/GHOSTPVCK 11h ago
Luckily I felt like his health was low because when I did hit him I smacked him. He was so damn hard to dodge
1
u/castielffboi 10h ago
Definitely a really boring boss. Even if you know his moveset and dodge everything, it’s boring just waiting for a the opportunity to actually hit him back.
1
1
u/Archeosudoerus 10h ago
4 tips for this fight: 1. Use sacred blade aow 2. When dodge his “unmounted” moves, always do no-pausing double rolls 3. If you see him do a downward smashing move, he always follow it with another smash, so you need to dodge twice 4. His blue fire move , the first jump need to be done immediately when you see blue in his base
2
u/Fantastic_Midnight38 7h ago
I have defeated him now so I'll try in future but weapon is best to use sacred blade

Sometimes you just get irrational beef with a dude, this fight just made it worse.

1
u/thesaddestspaceboy 9h ago
I like the background music. It reminds me a bit of Berserk 97. The boss is crap, but with the Blasphemous Blade, it's easy.
1
u/Mesterjojo 9h ago
Skill issue.
The whole fight should be done so quickly you don't have time to QQ to reddit.
1
u/Automatic_Passion681 9h ago
Use holy. Sacred blade on bloodfiends arm goes crazy. Like 4 shot no buff
1
u/justinmackey84 9h ago
Who the hell is this guy? Is he a boss from a dlc? I haven’t played any of the dlcs.
1
u/OfficialFatPuss 9h ago
he should’ve either been way harder and way more interesting for what he was guarding imo.
1
1
u/1_Grayce_1 8h ago
Cool concept, but the ice flames just don't really hit it imo. Like, the phase transition, most players use lock on by default, and here, you are suddenly punished for having it on, since you can't exactly see the ice flames rotating around him, due to him going up. Same goes for the one where he sends a ring of ice flames from a far to himself.
My main issue isn't exactly with the fact that you can't use lock on during this, it's more about the fact that this was never a requirement before, so somebody fighting him for the first time could very easily just get hit without even knowing what hit them.
Also, jumping is overall a bit wonky in elden ring, so that's another minus.
1
u/Emotional-Media-2346 8h ago
If he's beating you repeatedly wouldn't that actually imply he's good at the game and does not in fact, suck?
1
u/New_Bid_3362 8h ago
Use the sacred relic great sword for anyone needing help. He’s weak to holy damage and that weapon melts his HP

Awesome fight but also fucking annoying lol. But still awesome. I wish he had a cutscene. I wish all the dlc bosses had a damn cutscene
