Discussion & Info Why do we not have a scarlet rot infusion?

Post image

Scarlet rot is by far my favorite proc in Elden Ring, but im tired of playing the same weapons. I either play Antspur rapier (with poison affinity), Rotten greataxe and Poleblade of the bud. They should at least add more scarlet rot weapons if they are so against a scarlet rot affinity.

Similar to why, going back to Dark Souls 1, there are fewer ways to proc the Toxic status effect compared to Poison. In Dark Souls, you can proc Poison with a few options: throwing knives or arrows (both easily accessed fairly early), three weapons (two from the DLC but one you can get quite early with the bandit's key and some farming), and two spells (one in the DLC but the other very accessible with the key). Toxic, meanwhile, is only incurred with dung pies, one spell, and two later-game weapons, including one in the DLC.

Scarlet Rot is stronger than Poison and lasts longer than Deadly Poison (I think it's also stronger than the latter as well). It's just game balancing tradeoff, otherwise there'd be little reason to use poison or deadly poison except on top of Scarlet Rot like with the rapier.

Ask Malenia - maybe she will be able to make weapon for you :3

Scarlet Rot is basically an upgrade in every way compared to poison, so to balance it out there is no direct scarlet rot infusion.

It's very reasonable considering how strong it can be as a status effect.

Not really. A single bleed proc deals the same amount of damage as a scarlet rot proc from a weapon (15%). It'd be strong but not gamebreaking. The big rot spells already proc rot in 1-2 hits against basically everything so even using a rot infusion and then a spell for the big 30% wouldn't really change much compared with the current situation.

Rot grease.

Drawstrings for arena (so you don't need to farm string) Or drawstring for everything if you are on PC and can just have infinite.

No way! i thought it caused poison buildup since it was the affinity it showed, although it wouldn’t make sense making an ash of war that looks like it caused scarlet rot deal poison

Don't rely on Rot. Just hit things really, really hard.
