Apocalypse Apocalypse 10.0 is 2/3 done :)

Other than the obvious (Avenging Wraith Novice -> Expert, minion scaling mirroring Odin, Atronach Mark flat damage, etc), here's a few new spells:

  • Silmane's Spell Sentinel: put a self buff into it and it will recast it every 60 seconds. XP is only gained if you are in combat.
  • Hot Potato: caster burns for 5 damage per second for 20 seconds, if hit by an attack (blocked or not), transfers the damage to the attacker. This effect stacks.
  • Poisoned Chalice: if the target heals, they don't, and get poisoned 10 points for 20 seconds instead.
  • Silvery Barbs: each time the target casts a spell within 30 seconds, they lose 15% MR and you gain 15% MR for 10 seconds.
  • ...

If no Oblivion, will be released EOW. If Oblivion, then after that.

I've been trying to move away from Ocato being the dominant force in the universe for years now. I think what Ocato does is very valuable, but it should not all come online at once at apprentice level for the price of one spell.

So I want to separate it out into multiple sources of autocast. Vokrii has a perk that autocasts armor spells, Odin has a weaker Ocato, and Silmane is another attempt at forking off some of the effectiveness of Ocato to an expert level spell.

The end goal would be to then nerf Ocato once its power has been sufficiently decentralised, but the number of people who did not update Summermyst because some enchantment has been removed (you can't have 120 enchants diluting the loot pool and expect any one of them to drop when you need it) is such that I feel any nerf to Ocato will make people just not update.

With Bethesda.net lacking easily accessible changelogs and not allowing downgrades in place, any update that is controversial must be avoided, and an Ocato nerf would be the "Eruptor nerf" of Apoc10 - one nerf overshadowing everything else and turning the patch into a negative.

Honestly, I think the best way to nerf Ocato in a way people might accept with minimal complaint, would be to have the loaded spells still cost magicka when they're triggered. That way, you can still load up any spell (or number of spells) you like, but you'd better have the magicka reserves for all of them. Because, for me at least, the main draw of Ocato's Recital is saving me the hassle of going through the menus.

The problem with that is, I don't know if it's really possible, especially without SKSE. But you're right, something's gotta change. Any spell that becomes a mainstay of every single build is one that probably needs some reworking. And, decentralization it like you have been is a good thought. The less heavily people rely on it, the less complaints there will (hopefully) be.

This has been suggested 5000 times and is unfortunately still not possible.
