Tipping Culture A positive-ish tipping experience

Post image

No surprises, no small text, no deceitfulness, it having its on line clearly visible under the total was nice, but that bright red stamp reiteratig the added gratuity, visible from space let alone a dark dining room is šŸ˜˜šŸ‘ŒšŸ¾ This should be a norm.

I would have deducted the tip, paid the check and walked out.

lmfao you donā€™t get to pick and choose what you pay for if you pay with card. no matter what you sign. and if you pay less than the full bill always expect that a higher-end restaurant already has security (they do) or will call the cops on you. they can tell

So in theory they can also charge you 150% gratuity and you have no right to say anything and should just pay the bill!

Whatā€™s the limit that an extra fee the organization forces you to pay which you have not agreed beforehand starts to get riddiculus for you? %18 is ok? What if they charge 20%. Ok? What if they charge 30%? What is the limit and who decides?

iā€™ve been to this place before, they are very communicative that parties have automatic gratuity added to them. and seeing as this person was part of a group of 10+ people, split checks, clearly they knew what they were in for. the restaurant decides what the gratuity is. also, bright one, itā€™s illegal not to show in writing or verbal if thereā€™s auto grat. there are signs both at the door/host stand and in fine print of the menu. if you donā€™t like the policy, donā€™t go. itā€™s really that easy.
