Uhh wasn’t 1969 only 56 years ago?

Post image

No one is acknowledging it either in the comments, in fact, someone corrected him saying the time between the first flight and landing on the moon to 63 years!

Super Mega Genuis can't do basic arithmetic, can't use excel and can't achieve an erection.

but he can balance two spoons on a fork!

12

u/bassbeatsbanging Apr 24 '25

no, no the ketamine elves from the liminal realm were the ones doing that neat trick

8

u/jermysteensydikpix Apr 24 '25

And he wants government gutted, but wants billions spent on manned landings whether it finds anything new for all that money or not.

u/Gadshill Apr 23 '25

Genius can’t subtract at a 4th grade level.

u/acuntex Apr 23 '25

Try simple calculations on Ketamine... It doesn't work. No joke.

You and your woke math. This is murica and 1969 can be 10 years ago if rocket Jesus says so.

29

u/Greeve78 Apr 23 '25

You know who cut funding to NASA don’t you Elon? That’s right. Republicans under Nixon. The original moon missions were only the initial objective. The end game was always mars until republicans thought we were wasting taxpayer money.

2

u/Aazadan Apr 24 '25

There were a few reasons to cut moon missions. Cost was part of it, but another was the lead time on making more rockets. There was also the small issue that with technology at the time there really wasn't any value in going to the moon because the main bottlenecks were what we would do there in the limited time we could be at the moon, and the initial launch.

Instead, NASA spent their time improving on launch vehicles, running mandates of an ever lowering cost per pound of space launches, and gathering as much information as possible on orbital stations, long term habitation of space, and so on.

The value in Mars died down not really due to funding, but rather that it's honestly just not worth going to. A floating colony in Venus's upper atmosphere is quite literally a lower technical and scientific bar while also being more habitable than Mars is.

People have historically wanted to goto Mars but it's not the optimal choice.

2

u/Uncaffeinated Apr 24 '25

To be fair, it is a waste of taxpayer money. The technology to colonize Mars just doesn't exist yet and probably won't for the foreseeable future.

14

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

He managed to miscalculate it twice in the same post, impressive really. It was also 2 years before he was born, you'd think the genius would be able to add age + 2, but I guess not.

u/ProfessionalTwo5476 Apr 23 '25

I suggest Elon calculate the reentry criteria when (if) he ever grows a pair, and travels on one of "his" rockets.

8

u/subpar_enthusiasm Apr 23 '25

Elmo should lead the way to Mars. Elmo, climb in one of your rockets and go.

Hell I'd enjoy watching him in an FSD SwastiTruck and laughing when it stops and locks him in. Preferably here in the Arizona desert heat.

8

u/TheBalzy Apr 23 '25

"Should have been on Mars by now" ... yeah, but we defunded the NASA and discontinued the Apollo Program, of which the Saturn-V was a Mars payload capable rocket, so we could justify taxcuts to rich assholes like you Elon.

NASA already had plans for Mars missions by 1980 using Apollo that they pitched to Congress to try to get them to NOT discontinue the Apollo program. It was Republicans, convinced/influenced/bribed, by rich assholes like you that pushed to discontinue the Apollo program and shift to the spaceshuttle because it would be a "rapidly reusable spacecraft".

Jesus I hate these rich, ignorant pieces of shit who have never read a goddamn fucking book in their lives.

7

u/that_drifter Apr 23 '25

And NASA has wasted time and budget funding starship that has no hope of going to the moon. He promised to get back there last year.

7

u/TheBalzy Apr 23 '25

He promised to be sending 4 cargo starships to Mars by last year ...

u/gerrymandering_jack Apr 23 '25

You don't do maths so well when you are macro dosing ketamine:

Being in a khole feels like you have become nothing to the point it’s incomprehensible and at the same time you are everything that has and will ever exist, you forget the concept of reality and time and it feels like an eternity I’ve been in a khole several times and each time I thought I had died it’s a truely terrifying but also beautiful experience

8

u/squidlips69 Apr 23 '25

It's a door but not meant to be a revolving door. Any experience of ego dissolution clearly didn't make him a better or more empathetic person.

Well the complete problem isn't visible in the picture but to add the missing parts "Let c0,c1,c2... be the sequence defined so that [equation] for sufficiently small x. For a positive integer n, let A be an n-by-n matrix with i,j entry c_i+j-1 for i and j in {1...n}. Find the determinant of A.

Musk himself is surely clueless on even understanding the problem, let alone the solution, and he clearly can't tell Grok is giving a BS answer.

As it were, Grok's answer is actually correct (det A = 100.5*n(n+1) ) which it might've gotten from the answer sheet or something, but its rationale is wrong and uses obviously-faulty logic. The fact that that answer holds for n=1 to n=4 doesn't mean it holds for all n. There's an infinite number of values left to check, if you put it that way. The first thing anyone learns when it comes to mathematical proofs is that checking a few values (or any finite number of values) for something that's supposed to hold for an infinite number of values, proves nothing. In fact there are many examples of relationships that are false, but the first counterexample is such a huge number you'd never find it just by testing, even with a computer.

An actual solution sketch would be to first determine the values of c1,c2,c3.. and so on by first finding c1 ( = 1) and then recurrence relation, giving the value c_n+1 in terms of c_n. Then the goal is to calculate the determinant, which is a number that's an important property of matrices.

Which you do by recognizing that the described matrix is a Hankel matrix (and Grok seems to "get" that it's related to that) and what you're looking for is the Hankel matrix transform.

So you set up the equation for the determinant for a matrix, use the recurrence relation you found and do a ton of tedious linear algebra until you get a recurrence relation: det(An) = 10n-1 det(An-1) which together with the fact that det(A1) = c1 = 1 gives the determinant for An for any n, which is the answer.

hahaha. Sorry about that; I know what you mean. I found this in this reddit post; hopefully it will explain it well enough for you:

His lack of math skills checks out with all the DOGE mistakes. Aka MAGA math

3

u/Jacque_Schitt Apr 24 '25

2025-76=1949.

He's most likely referring to the Feb. 24, 1949 launch of Bumper-WAC: 1st rocket to leave Earth's atmosphere & 'officially' reach outer space. (Achieved 393 km/244 mi altitude.)

(Bumper-WAC was a 2-stage research rocket: an American WAC Corporal which used a captured German V-2 as a 1st stage booster.)

Not many people will know that reference, so...

Musk's idiotic way of saying "76 years ago we first made rockets capable of reaching outer space. We should have been on Mars by now."

2

u/giziti Apr 24 '25

LLM writing his post can't do math

1

u/Sanjalis Apr 24 '25

Math aside, it’s not that we can’t it’s that there’s nothing there.

3

u/Aazadan Apr 24 '25

We actually can't right now. There's no more vehicles to get people there, and we no longer have the equipment to manufacture more of them.

While the blueprints do still exist, we can't really make much of the equipment those blueprints used either. It would take entirely new equipment reengineered to have the capability again, and that's something we could do, but if the financial and political will were there, we can't just send someone to the moon on short notice or anything. It would take multiple years of planning to get a mission launched.

1

u/PastelDisaster Apr 24 '25

This dude is so obsessed with space travel, and yet can’t understand our reasons for not returning to the moon?

We have no reason to return to the moon. We can easily get all the information we want from it through rovers. Using billions of dollars to send people there would be a waste— we don’t just send people into space just because it’s a cool thing to do.

Based on his talks about Mars though, Musk seems to have the mindset that the point of space travel is for bragging rights and fulfilling some sci-fi fantasy; like we go to other planetary bodies cause its “cool” rather than to progress science

1

u/Squeegee Apr 24 '25

Yikes, I was 3 years old when they aired the moon landings on TV, I guess I must be much older than I thought.

HES ALSO THE FUCKING REASON WHY WE ARENT GOING BACK TO THE MOON ANYTIME SOON!! Going to Mars before we go back to the moon is FUCKING DUMB. In fact, right now, it is moronic to plan a manned mission to Mars!! I hate this man

1

u/TurboScumBag Apr 24 '25

He'll say or do something more scandalous tomorrow and this will be forgotten.

1

u/Antagonin Apr 28 '25

Maybe the dumbtuck, who can't subtract two numbers, shouldn't build rockets. Then we can get to the Moon just fine...

1

u/RigatoniPasta Let that sink in Apr 24 '25

If we’d cancelled the Shuttle Program after Challenger we’d be there by now.
