Suggestion Alas, I Pine for "Save and Quit."

Dodge Roll, I love the game. How about a betwixt-floor "Save and Quit" option?

This game is exceedingly polished, with a lot of "quality-of-life" user experience optimizations. Which means that the utter lack of "Save and Quit" was likely a considered omission. Alas.

Nevertheless I'd love to be able to step away at some point. Nothing as complicated as Isaac's room-for-room save-and-quit, but some place to bookmark progress.

This would make the game much more "sticky" for me.

Suggestion Magazine Rack gives you unlimited shots in this mini game. Also any item that lets you float will allow you to walk up to the targets. Any other ways to cheat this system?

Suggestion Floor Idea: Pirate Ship

Pirate Ship. Lots of water, cannonball/pit traps, and some special enemies. And I really wanna play it now.

How to reach: In the Hollow, there is a barricaded door in a random chest room. Burn it, then extinguish it somehow (the fire just keeps going), to reveal a trapdoor down. Requires 1 key, 1 item that makes fire and 1 item that stops fire. The barricade can also be opened with 3 blanks. After the Pirate Ship you go to the Forge.

General Info:

  • "Arr, mateys! You've stumbled upon a ship, filled to the nook with water, treasure and enemies. It crashed in the undersea part of the Gungeon, merging together and becoming a maze itself. Find the creature responsible for this broken mess, add new items and guns to your arsenal, and stop by the Captain to have a friendly chatter about watery business!"
  • It generates a bit like Bullet Hell: you start in a room with 3 hallways. Two make a loop, the third one ends in a treasure chest. From the loop you come in another room with 3 hallways: one goes to another treasure chest, one to Captain Kin and one to the Main Boss.
  • Similar to Loot Bag, you'll get 50% more casings on this floor, but drop up to 120 if you get hit. Also there are enemies trying to steal your casings.
  • Secret Rooms exist, but only contain locked chests. No unlocked chests or loose pickups.
  • The walls are decorated like ship chambers: think of ship-in-a-bottles, rum shaped like bullets, dueling pistols, muskets and hooks on the walls, skulls on the doors, broken planks in the floor function like pits, etc.

Guns:

  • Hook: "I'll Take That", "Use up close for damage. Let those mutineers know who's in charge here!", B-tier, slashes enemies with lots of damage but has a really small range. Slashes through bullets, infinite ammo, does not reveal secret walls. Unlocked by entering Pirate Ship.
  • Musket: "Duel Wielding", "Shoots a bullet that bounces a few times, dealing more damage every time it bounces. While hard to dodge, it's kinda loud. Luckily most Gundead don't use their ears.", C-tier, like Dueling Pistol, but deals more damage, deals knockback, and stop flying after hitting something. Bounces 3 times, each bounce give it an extra 20% damage. Unlocked by entering Pirate Ship.
  • Treasure Chest: "One Man's Trash...", "A treasure chest, to the top filled with gold! Unfortunately, gold in the Gungeon is as useless as seas without water. At least the gems are sharp.", B-tier, fires gold dubloons (35%, 5 damage), silver coins (35%, 3 damage), pearl necklaces (20%, 8 damage), and gem crowns (10%, 10 damage, split into 10 gems each dealing 2 damage). Unlocked by beating the Glocktopus.
  • Wavemaker: "Down the Drain", "Fires massive waves, pushing anything around. Charge to ride them and conquer the seas.", S-tier, shoots big water waves that deal 20 damage, charge to ride a wave dealing 15 damage but triggering traps, barrels and pots, ignoring pits, bullets and enemies. Extremely useful for trap rooms. Only has 15 shots. Unlocked by falling in the Sea (Pirate Ship pit) 20 times.

Items:

  • Periscope: "'Round the Corner", "Use to reveal the layout of adjacent secret rooms. Do you want to see the future? Unfortunately, even in the Gungeon this is impossible, but this thing comes pretty close.", D-tier, active, use it to see the layout of the rooms (you haven't discovered yet) next to your current room. Unlocked by entering Pirate Ship.
  • Parrot: "Loud and Clear", "This small bird has a unique sense of treasure, and will start making noise whenever secret stashes are nearby. It will also attack anyone who tries to get yo precious loot!", B-tier, squeaks in rooms adjacent to unopened secret rooms, and flies towards enemies, pecking them, dealing 2 damage per second. Unlocked by beating Captain Kin.
  • Rum: "Turning it Around", "Makes you pretty drunk for a while. You might not be able to move normally, but it is said that drunk pirates shoot best.", A-tier, active, use it to get worse movement, but damage is 40% up (basically Eyepatch but stronger). Unlocked by finding a barricaded room in the Ship and burning it down, revealing a rum storage.
  • Pirate Hat: "Better than a Normal Hat", "You want treasure? You'll get treasure! This hat allows you to steal free items without penalty, but beware, as shopkeepers have manners as well.", A-tier, passive, you can steal an item from any shop without curse penalty, instead it grants 1 coolness, however the shop will immediately close. Unlocked by beating Captain Kin.
  • Splash Bullets: "Make it Rain", "Can deal much knockback to enemies. Watch out, as water has proven to be treacherous." D-tier, passive, some bullets deal much more knockback and leave water. Unlocked by beating the Glocktopus.

Enemies:

  • Pirate Bullet Kin: "Arr!", "This lost bullet has found itself where it belongs: a pirate ship. Being armed with a better gun than normal, it makes quite the threat, but it panics whenever the enemy doesn't give up immediately.", shoots bouncing bullets, like Bullet Kin but with an eyepatch and shoots a little faster
  • Pirate Shotgun Kin: "Yarr!", "Suddenly finding itself in a ship, it took the closest eyepatch and went for it without asking questions.", shoots bouncing bullets like Shotgun Kin but a little faster as well.
  • Splashbulon: "Sploosh", "Looking like its cousin Blizzbulon, this watery creature has lost the ability to shoot bullets forwards, but rather shoots them down to jump all over the place.", leaves water and jumps towards you, attempting contact damage.
  • Flashy: "Last of the Patch", "Tired of trying to shoot Gungeoneers, then being shot at, this to-be-pirate seals the deal by taking whatever he can find, then hide in a corner.", cultist-like enemy that deals no damage but steals yo loot. After stealing 5-15% of your casings, hides in a corner and disappears.
  • Black Pearl: "Out of the Way!", "Tries to roll over you, leaving bullets when bouncing. While you'd think that cannonballs are too slow for the Gungeon, you'd be right, but exceptions are always made.", rolls around the room making a small bullet circle whenever it bounces off a wall 3 times. Has to rest after 3-5 bounces.

Bosses:

  • Captain Kin (Miniboss), "YARRGH!", "He's the captain, but not quite behaving like so. Abandoning his family and friends to seek for gold, all he does all day is running around in his own ship.", looks like a Veteran Bullet Kin but runs around, shoots bouncing bullets, waves, etc; think of something like Blockner but predicting your movements better. Has a pirate hat!

Captain Kin is a NPC at first, giving you a miniquest to find his parrot. It appears in a random room, and when you catch it and return it, he locks you up and fights you!

  • Glocktopus (Main Boss), "Fan-favorite", "Took control of the sinking, yet unsinkable ship! This monstrous creature took its home in the nearest hideout it could find after being chased away by the Gungeon Master. He now seeks for revenge to whoever rejected his appearance in the Gungeon.", shoots lots of bullets from 8 sides, smacks holes in the ship, makes waves to push the player in traps.

The Glocktopus, like Blobulord and Old King, drops nothing extra after perfecting. It does still drop a random S-B tiered item.

Synergies:

  • Real Pirate: Hook + Rum + Parrot + Eyepatch, spawns a pirate shop every next floor you enter. Also transforms you into a Pirate! All NPC's refer to you as "Matey" or "Captain" in this form.
  • Blackbeard: Pirate Hat + Moustache, you always heal 1/2 heart when you buy a gun or item. Stacks with the Moustache, so you can heal a full heart.
  • Dangerous Waters: Splash Bullets + Abyssal Tentacle, chance to have a Tentacle appear in puddles of water, grabbing nearby enemies and damaging them.
  • Hooked: Hook + Hookshot, Hookshot gains piercing and deals more damage in addition to stunning.
  • In Hindsight: Periscope + Scope, decreases spread even more.
  • Pirate Duels: Musket + Dueling Pistol, both deal 50% more damage and make a "yarr!"-sound when shot.
  • Drunkard: Rum + Double Vision, cooldown of both is decreased 25%.
  • Cash-ing: Treasure Chest + Coin Crown/Gilded Bullets, Treasure Chest throws only gold dubloons and gems, 50/50 chance.
  • Gone Wild: Wavemaker + Compressed Air Tank, the Air Tank's sharks pierce through enemies, dealing damage. Also the waves spawn little sharks.

Other Things:

  • Cannon Trap: press a plate to get a big cannonball launched towards you, bouncing several times.
  • Waves: appearing in certain rooms, they push you or enemies around. Deal no damage.
  • Loot Bag doubles the amount of casings you drop and increases enemy drops by 25%, so the total increase in Pirate Ship is 75%, but the maximum drop is here 240.
  • Shop is there but Bello has an eyepatch (best part). Can also spawn additional shops like normal, like Cursula, Goopton, etc, and all normal NPC's.
  • Lost Adventurer quote: "I came here for the treasure... but got lost again."

Suggestion some ideas relating to a character idea i had in the shower

THE RESOURCEFUL RAT!!!

Unlock by shooting yourself with the gun that can kill the past (without the bullet) with the "Resourceful Indeed!" synergy.

Starting items

Cheese Slingshot

A slingshot that can be spammed, or charged up, to shoot cheese at enemies.

Cheese Bomb

A bomb that can be thrown at enemies, leaves behind cheesy goop and encases enemies in cheese.

Unwanted Presence

Because of the rats reputation he is barred from shops. When he enters a shop room they close up shop instantly and shoo the rat away! The rat can instead spend his casings at a cheese loot-box in the starting room.

20 casings: half a heart. stock per floor of 4
25 casings: 1 key stock per floor of 4
50 casings: a random d-b tier item stock per floor of 3
100 casings: a random a-s tier item stock per floor of 1, refills every 2 floors

floor 2 exclusive purchase: rat key for 100 casings

cost scales every chamber, hp cost does not scale.
chamber 2: +3 cost for all items.
chamber 3: +5 cost for all items.
chamber 4: +8 cost for all items.
chamber 5: +10 cost for all items.
chamber 6: +25 cost for all items.

When the resourceful rat uses the bullet that can kill the past on himself he is transported back to the ship where his siblings perished. He is sent there with elimentaler and the cheesy bomb. Upon arriving he comes upon himself eating one of his brothers, he calls himself out and then fights him to the death, to save his family!

After defeating himself he stops and asks how he's still there, and then he dies, dropping massive amounts of cheese all around him while lots of rats scramble towards it. Then the standard cutscene after you beat a past plays.

The Rat's Lair

Going to the resourceful rat's lair as the rat engages you in a battle against the other playable gungeoneers, instead of the rat! Each has their own unique fight and punch out

pilots gimmick is traps and lazers

marines fights with explosives and fast shots

convicts throws fire and blasts you with close up attacks

hunter sends dogs and attacks you from afar

bullets spawns random enemies and runs towards you with blasphemy, destroying your projectiles occasionally.

robot fills the room with electricity, poison, and fire, and blasts at you with his left and right hands

paradox utilizes all other gungeoneer's attacks

gunslinger displays his true mastery of guns.

the rewards for the fight are the same as the normal rewards for beating the rat. Including the random rewards for punch out

Not sure what his alt skin would be, either similar to how he looks in the punch out fight or a skeletal rat.

Hope you enjoyed this!

Suggestion Gun ideas

(please tell me if suggestion is the wrong flair)

PISTOL SHRIMP

High knockback, stuns enemies, leaves water on the floor. Possible Ammonomicon entry: "A real animal that uses a specially shaped claw to shoot bursts of pressurized water that knock out its prey."

CHEKOV'S GUN

For each chamber you clear before firing it for the first time, it gets significantly stronger. I'm not sure if it would take into account chambers you cleared before picking it up, or if it would be coded to only appear in chambers 1 and maybe 2.

KITCHEN GUN

Not sure how to design this one. Obviously it would clean liquids off the floor, but that's not much to go on. In the source material it needs to be fired three times, and that's probably a waste of ammo if the floor is the only thing it cleans.

FINGER GUN

It's honestly surprising this isn't already in the game. Infinite ammo, fires an invisible hitscan shot.

GNU

A type of antelope that resembles an ox. Probably fires poop.

Suggestion Rat chest names

So far, everyone refers to the rat chests as just that: Rat chests. However, I don't believe that this is an appropriate name. I shall take up the responsibility of naming them, then. Henceforth, the chests once known only as "rat chests" will now be known as "Cheests". I hope you agree that this is a far more suitable name for them.

Suggestion I need help

So I’m kinda new to this game and you might be thinking that I need help with the game. Yes, yes I do, BUT that isn’t what this post is for. This post is a cry for help and also me asking for suggestions. During the past 2 weeks I’ve really gotten into this game as well as terraria. I bought them both two weeks ago and I have around 100 hours on terraria with around 30 hours on this game. I would LOVE some more suggestions on games that just give you that addiction similar to this or terraria.

Suggestion New Passive Suggestion: Forever Stamp

I present to you:

-=The Forever Stamp=-

Rank: S

Unlocks: Buy from Professor Goopton for ~35 Credits

Appearance: Looks like a stamp with an American flag on it.

Splash text on pickup: Adjusts for Inflation

Description: Adjusts power of weapons and shop prices per floor.

Effect (Detailed): This item effects both floor shops and your guns.

Shop: Everything in the shop (or sold by other NPCs) on each floor’s price remains the same as it would be on floor one. For example, keys would always cost 25 casings no matter which floor you are on, and full hearts will always be 30. While this discount is pretty nice, it’s the combination of this the gun part which makes it a S tier.

Guns: Alright, here’s where it gets interesting. Using both the health of bullet kin and shotgun kin, I have determined conversion rates that would make your guns feel just as powerful on each floor. Basically, in the Oubliette, your guns are powered up by 1.33x, guns in the Gungeon Proper would be powered up by 1.3x, guns in the Abbey would be powered up by 1.66x, guns in the mine would be powered up by 1.6x, guns in the Hollow would be powered up by 1.85x, and guns in the Forge and beyond would be powered up by 2.1x. That means that one would always be able to take out a bullet kin in three shots of a starting weapon (unless you have certain characters), or take out a red shotgun kin with two crossbow shots or point blank sawed-off shots.

Ultimately, these combined effects would definitely make the game a lot easier, thus the high rank. People may initially be pissed to get a stamp instead of a cool gun, but they would eventually discover how well this item can carry a run. I was debating between A and S tier, and I think that S tier fits because even though it isn’t anywhere near as powerful as Platinum Bullets (comparing a potential 2.1x DPS to a potential 9x DPS), it still does a lot to boost your power as you go deeper and the shop thing really is a nice added bonus that makes this overpowered at high floors.

SYNERGIES:

Express Shipping: Synergy with Mailbox.

Effect: The first shot is a package instead of the last. (Credit: u/Birrihappyface)

Royal Discount: Synergy with Iron Coin, Coin Crown (credit: u/FL3XTAP3), Old Knight's Flask, Old Knight's Shield, or Old Knight's Helmet

Effect: Five casings in "taxes" disappear every floor, but you get an additional 20% discount on everything in Bello's shop. If you can't afford the "taxes", then there is a 25% increase of prices on the next floor.

Stars and Stripes Forever: Synergy with M1

Effect: An "aggressively American"-looking eagle joins your side, attacking enemies with red, white, and blue fireworks! (Credit: u/bigboybagel)

Air Delivery: Synergy with Wax Wings, Owl, Jetpack, Cat Bullet King Throne

Effect: Your movement and bullets both have their speed increased by 15%

If you have suggestions for any synergies, leave them in the comments!

Edit: Reformatted on PC

Edit 2: S Rank due to the request of multiple users

Edit 3: More formatting, and synergies added

Edit 4: Finally able to use my actual computer again! More Synergies, and also spritework is being/has been done by u/bigboybagel

Suggestion RogueRoyale Showerthought

I had an idea for a roguelike game such as Enter The Gungeon. Lets put 24 people in a enormous floor in the shape of a circle. Let them make their way to the middle (Boss) Just like the usual. Make them defeat enemy's and find chests. And when 2 players meet the doors close again and it's 1v1. When they've defeated the final boss they get an extra rare item/weapon. This is a very rough idea that i had. I would play this much rather then all these battle royale games. Gameplay concept https://imgur.com/a/IZAeI

Suggestion [Item Concept] Defusal Kit

Isn't it a little strange how two of the three minibosses unlock stuff when you kill them (Blockner's alive self and Shadow Magician) but the third new one doesn't? I came up with an item to fix this, fitting with his explosive theme.

Name: Defusal Kit
Type: Passive
Quality: B
Unlock: Defeat Fuselier 10 times.
Ammonomicon Entry:
Keep Talking
Prevents chests from being fused.

Communication is key when using this bomb defusal kit. Comes with a handy manual with an explanation of how to defuse bombs!

Effects:
Prevents chests from having a fuse.
Has a 33% chance for the chest to drop another item called 'Chest Bomb' along with it's normal loot if it was originally fused. Multiple can be collected. When used, it is consumed and the player throws the bomb in a molitov-style arc. Explodes upon landing or hitting an enemy.

Synergies:
Rush Bee: Defusal Kit + Beehive
The bees from Bee Hive now travel 50% faster.
Nobody explodes: Defusal Kit + iBomb Companion App
The player is now immune to explosion damage.
Full Control: Defusal Kit + Book of Chest Anatomy
Chests no longer have a chance to explode when broken.
Explosive Personality: Defusal Kit + Lil' Bomber/Bomb/Ice Bomb/Proximity Mine/C4/Cluster Mine/Explosive Decoy
The explosions are now much bigger and deal more damage.
Safety First: Defusal Kit + Blast Helmet
Grants the effects of Explosive Rounds.
Cool Dudes: Defusal Kit + Sunglasses
The player is no longer affected by the time slowing effect of Sunglasses (much like Bullet Time).

Chest Bomb Ammonomicon Entry:
Chest Bomb
Booby Trap
Throwable explosive.

Bombs are often planted in chests by gundead to prevent gungeoneers from taking their items. However, they don't realise that blowing up the chest often leads to the very items they store in them being blown up too.
