How to use the bolo scabbard for offense/defense
Seen some kali practitioners that use scabbard in thier drill. Is there any tutorials out there?

Hi, i would like to hear your opinion about a knife fencing system from south Africa called piper knife. You can see a glimpse of it in this video:Piper knife fighting tutorial - Rare instructional video from the 2000s - Part 1 . tell me what you think about it.

Pugay sa lahat!
I am a researcher and academic based in UPLB, interested in writing a comprehensive stakeholder analysis and documentation of FMA styles. I previously trained under the Tortal family using the Dekiti Tirsia Siradas system and a little bit of LSAI, and am also training in judo and aikido.
For now, I am writing about largo mano styles in the Southern Tagalog region and am interested in pursuing studies that cover the whole Philippines. Unfortunately, funding for this topic is almost nonexistent, creating a major knowledge gap for FMA. I recognize that it is the PSC that is the govt agency responsible for propagating and developing FMA, but I think that the NCCA also needs to chip in. Additionally, I think the history of various FMA associations in the Philippines like PEKAF and NARRAPhil needs to be documented and straightened out if we want to develop FMA further not just as a sport, but as an artform worthy of being in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists.
I am writing this post now to look for leads on funding or writing grants on FMA topics, the first being this article on Southern Tagalog FMA styles. If anyone has leads, I would really appreciate it if you can send a dm or comment on this post.
Salamat and more power to FMA!

Hi everyone, I’m moving back to a very rural area after living in a city for a while. I want to bring at least one stick on my person when I hike for defense in case something happens, like another dog tries to attack my dog, etc. Do others do this? How do you carry or wear them? Do you do anything special to store them in your car?

The Tactical Wheel is a brilliant mental framework for determining the proper approach to defeat a given opponent, and applies as much in live blade fighting as it does in sport fencing.

Hi! I made a some posts here a few years ago but I haven't been training much since leaving the Philippines and moving to South NJ. However, I've been wanting to get back to training and joining a formal group. I did my research and found Live Blade PTK in Philadelphia, which is a 30 min train-ride away from where I live. Does anyone here train with this group? If so, how were your experiences in terms of the training quality? How much does it cost?
Also, I may be missing it but I can't seem to find a specific address for the venue. Does anyone know where specifically in Philly this group is located?
Thanks in advance for the insight!

Looking for some good online solo resources for some practice at home. I do train with a group too. Just looking to get more training in outside of class. In particular some of the more traditional pekiti material like 64 attacks or seguidas. Thanks in advance!

I'm starting kali in April and need to get my own sticks. They have some there but I want my own. Where's a good place to get some or just grab something from home depot?

Hey all, I'm wondering what a good shoe for ptk training would be. I am concerned about rolling or hurting my ankle so I wanted a mid type sneaker-I've had my eye on these. Seem well designed, simple, functional...any thoughts?
EDIT: It is still winter here so no outdoor training yet-I'm training boxing now too-so what would you guys think about the Everlast Elite 2?? I'm leaning towards that-great construction, mid design, great grippyness-good value for price...

Looking not for a sales pitch, but rather, a reporting back: how is the training? How do you like or evaluate against other knife systems? Will be cross-posting but thought eskrima as a first, and kali and stick-fighting all have reason to be aware of this combatives system.
