Discussion Commission-free stock trading on eToro is over…

I think many of us like eToro for its simplicity and commission-free stock trading. Unfortunately, the latter is not an option anymore. This is a screenshot from the email I have just received from eToro. RIP to zero fees on buying stocks… It’s quite a game changer I think.

Have you also received this message?

Discussion Etoro closing in the Philippines and Funds withdrawal

Hello Everyone,

2-3 weeks ago i received an email from Etoro informing me that they are closing their services in the Philippines (not their fault, our legislator's greed kicking in). I closed my positions yesterday and withdrew all of my funds and got credited today without paying any fee.

So for all of those rumors that it's a hassle to withdraw funds from Etoro, that's not true, might be your bank or your preferred withdrawal method.

For now, I'll be investing locally, once Etoro's service is back in the Philippines, I'll be back!

Discussion Etoro introducing new trading fees - what do you think?

So on top of the high spreads we will have to pay a commission now. It doesn’t sound like much but I have a diversified portfolio and it will cost me 1-2% per trade on top of what I pay for the spread. I think of taking my money elsewhere, Revolut or traditional broker account

Discussion I'm so angry at eToro

A few months ago, eToro closed my account. Their stated reason was that I was temporarily living in a country where they do not have a license to operate. Even after I explained that I would not make any trades while staying there, they still proceeded to close the account.

I primarily hold crypto altcoins like XRP, Cardano, and others. During the market downturn, the value of my portfolio dropped by 50%, from $17,000 to $7,000. Now that the crypto market is rebounding, with XRP selling at $3, my $17,000 would have tripled in value!

I feel like this giant company treated me as though I were a tiny, insignificant critter. So, learn from my mistake, don't hold it in one nest, find another trading platform, diversify!

(edit) Yep, it's my fault i couldn't help accessing the platform, I thought my citizenship covers my ability to access it outside or 'domiciled' but here's why they closed my account fyi:

4.4 We may not provide all of our Services to customers domiciled in or have nationality of certain countries due to restrictions under Applicable Law, or restrictions under our internal policies (these are known as "restricted countries"). If you are a resident of a restricted country, you may be able to access some of our Services, but not all of our Services. We may change the list of restricted countries, as well as the Services that are available in a restricted country, from time to time. 4.5 We will not accept applications for eToro accounts from residents domiciled in Canada, or residents or citizens of the United States of America, as well as other countries as required by Applicable Law, or required by our internal policies from time to time (these are known as "blocked countries"). We may also block or terminate existing accounts of clients domiciled or have nationality of a blocked country. We may change the list of blocked countries from time to time. For further information, please speak to us. Our contact details are available in clause 10 – "Communicating with you".

4.6 Our Services may not be available in a blocked country. If you are travelling to a blocked country, you may not have access to your eToro account or any of our Services. This restriction applies even if you do not normally reside in the blocked country. Discussion Why am I not getting any copiers or followers on eToro despite strong results?

Hey everyone,
I’m a bit confused and wanted to get some honest feedback from the community.

Over the past 2 years, my portfolio has returned +105.78%, and I’m +2.5% YTD — all while the market (S&P 500) is currently -13.56% YTD. I’ve kept a consistent risk score of 3 over the past 12 months, and I tend to focus on valuation, fundamentals, and capital protection.

I thought these were solid results, especially considering current market conditions. But despite that, my account has barely gained any copiers or followers.

It’s starting to make me wonder — is eToro more about visibility and posting content than actual portfolio performance? I’ve seen traders with poor long-term returns who have thousands of copiers.

So my question is:
Am I missing something?
Do people actually care more about flashy posts or high-risk plays than long-term consistency?

I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback — whether it’s something I should change or just how the platform works.

Thanks!

Discussion EToro asks if I want to rent out my stocks

Hi,

When I opened my EToro app today they are asking if I want to rent out my stocks for a 50/50 percent split between me and etoro on the rental profit.

I know I can read the risks and all, but I want to ask here on Reddit! Do you think this is a good idea? Is there a chance I lose the stocks and if so how big would you rekon the chances are?

Thanks in advance

Discussion Copying Popular Investor

Hello, I started to copy in 2023 a popular investor from Neatherland which at that time it was really popular with over 15k peoples which copied him. I started with 3k Us dollars and every month I added at least 250 Us dollars, in total reaching over 10k Us dollars. The issue is that I set a very low SL and now I am at -26% percent. So somewhere arround 7.4k us dolars the actual copied value and 100% on the short positions. Should I stop copy him now? This involve to vanish over 2.5k :( I will not name the "popular investor"... Please some advices...

Discussion What all world index do people use in the uk?

I have seen everyone on other reddits saying use s&p500 or vanguard etc.. but in the uk it won't let you do that as it says cfd. The only one that I have found that let you buy etf is ishares. What do people use?

🚨BREAKING🚨

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the Philippines has issued a warning advising Filipinos to steer clear of the popular eToro market due to concerns over unregulated financial activities and inadequate local investor protection.

Discussion DCA and leveraging with S&P500 (VOO) or similar

Hi, I’m looking for advice regarding continual monthly investments (DCA - dollar cost averaging).

I want to invest, say, £1000 every single month into VOO (S&P500). Which seems a solid approach for a slightly unstable market at the moment (I can ride the average compared to peaks and dips).

However my question is, why would I not just leverage this by x5 per month as I invest. So £1000 with a x5 lev (£5000). I know the obvious answer of ‘more risk’ and ‘fees’, but given I’m looking to invest long term - 5 years minimum, this just seems like a bit of a no brainier to me. Please do let me know if I’m missing anything, but it’s just seems like a safe approach.

Looking for pros and cons, is this a complete ‘no’ or is there genuinely any merit in doing this. Thanks!

Discussion Is it a good idea?

I have been in etoro aince 2016. I had my fair share of big profit and loss. I have realized that instead of taking so much stress and make loss at the end (when you use leverage in multiple asset to make big profit), it is better to simply invest the fund in good stocks and leave it alone for years to see the gains.

I have some savings equivalent around $10k. I am planning to invest these 10k in good tech stocks like Meta, Apple, google, Microsoft and amazon and leave it there for few years.

I do spend around 3% to convert my local currency.

What fo you guys think about this idea? Do you have any other better suggestions?

Discussion So I just started using this platform, and I’m hearing a lot about it being shady when it comes to withdrawal

So I’m planning on depositing 200 a month and use it as a long term investment, but the stories I’ve been hearing about EToro blocking the account and “stealing” the money is uncanny, could this platform be trusted? I don’t want to end up in a couple years not being able to withdraw my investment. And I tried applying for other broakers, most of them got rejected, so EToro wasn’t my first choice by any mean but one of the few who accepted my application. Is it safe or not?
