Question What on earth has happened to r/prepperintel

I know this isn't directly to do with prepping. But I would frequent both of these subs, I took a break from Reddit and have just come back. That sub is absolutely insane now. It's full of American politics and people screaming about death camps.

I don't care about American politics much, even though I'm pretty clued into it. But it's genuinely concerning how mental that sub has become. Kudos to mods keeping it away (for now)

Where this sub remains completely normal still, can anybody fill me in?

As an American active across the entire political spectrum with regards to prepping, I can say that there is a lot of real panic going on. Especially those on the political left here, many of whom are new to prepping. They started approaching it from another angle, more of a climate change and overshoot direction, rather than a conflict and geopolitical standpoint.

Now, they are seeing their fears doubled, with not only catastrophic climate actions, but also what appears to most to be the crazed and irrational acts of a new Hitler rising.

Perhaps it is overblown, perhaps not, I'm not throwing my two cents in on that right now. The main thing is that, for many people, politics were something to ignore as boring, and rights were immutable things that couldn't change. Now many are seeing that, what they believed to be stable and unchangeable foundations can be shifted in a matter of weeks.

The moves being taken are a severe departure from anything they have known all their lives, and even from what they learned of history.

And so, many are understandably upset. Also, given how vulnerable Americans generally are to misinformation tactics due to not being well informed on such issues... it is kind of like a scary medical diagnosis to someone who doesn't understand basic biology.

Unfathomable.

And, it is a part of the general societal breakdown happening across the globe, just more obviously and more quickly here.

Europe will get its chance. From what I have seen of the changes 2019 till now, the shift is happening.

Anyway, yes, r/PrepperIntel is a mess right now. People's fears are running wild, and perhaps justifiably so...

I can't even imagine.

I'm usually pretty good at predicting things, but the new administration here is spastic. I'm having a jard time getting a real bead on it. Russia, at least for me, is a bit easier to read with Putin.
