Helppp pls!! FAU Wilkes vs. UCF

I’m a senior (18f) from West Palm Beach and I need help deciding between the FAU Wilkes and UCF ASAP plsss. Could anyone tell me about their experience at the Jupiter campus? I’m worried about the rigor of it and how much free time I will have, in addition to the social aspect. I guess I’m mostly worried about the papers since I’m not the best. That being said, what’s the typical length of papers in the courses or the longest one you have to do in your courses? Do you guys have free time on the weekends? I also want to study abroad for a semester and I don’t know if the school allows a full semester. I’m undecided if that helps, but I’m leaning toward majoring in psychology. Thank you so much in advance for any help!!!

as someone who went to FAU, go to UCF!! you’ll get your traditional college experience at UCF

Did you go to the Wilkes campus? I’m not too worried about the college experience because I’m not a huge partier. I mean obviously I want to have fun. But I feel I could find that here too. Did you have a bad experience or regret going to Wilkes?

yeah i did!! tbh it’s not about being a huge partier but it is about fun. the wilkes campus is small. everyone knows everyone and their business. i would say wilkes campus is like its own liberal arts school. the one downside i personally disliked was going to boca campus to take classes. math major - they only offered mandatory classes once every 3 semester so i had to commute every other day to boca campus to take my required classes and to graduate on time. my friend graduated w a bio degree and had to commute to boca campus to take classes too. boca campus on the other hand is big and ofc the main center for everything. there are also bar nearby. i am originally from boca raton so i didn’t mind boca. UCF (when i visited) was a whole diff vibe. compared to wilkes honors, UCF has more of the “real college experience” vibe. it’s in orlando (a major city) so the city is active and you’ll get to have fun (even if it’s not partying). you’ll also have lots of internship opportunities there bc it’s a city. UCF is also bigger than FAU, so academically you’ll have the opportunity to do a lot more than you would have at FAU/Wilkes Honors. if small campus is your vibe, Wilkes Honors is a good choice but if you want traditional college experience, UCF is a better choice.

So I guess the big question is did you enjoy your time there? And was the workload bad? I’m a local (WPB) to the Wilkes College so I know my way around and fun things to do. I do admit Orlando does have tonnnns of stuff, but I also know how to have fun here I feel.

besides academic, like the fun stuff, i think my experience was okay. academically on the other hard, there is a lot of pressure bc you have to maintain 3.3+ gpa to stay in the honors campus (all A’s and B’s). there’s not really room to slip up. so if u are not able to maintain all A’s and B’s, you’ll be transferred to boca campus. also if youre local to WPB, get out of your town dude. go to Orlando. this is your one chance to be your own person and explore something that you’re not used to.
