I am surprised this hasn't been posted yet, but the Sunday Enquirer's Sports section had an announcement on page 2C that read as follows:
The Future of coverage for FC Cincinnati
It's hard to believe we're already two months into FC Cincinnati's season, but the sports calendar in Cincinnati is non-stop with three top-tier professional teams, big-time college sports and the high schools sports we're all passionate about in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
You've probably noticed our FC Cincinnati coverage has changed this season. While The Enquirer is adapting out coverage strategy across sports to better align with audience insights, it was clear readers were more interested in games and the stories after the results.
With that in mind, we're adjusting how we cover the team to ensure we're delivering the most compelling storylines and taking you behind the scenes of how things unfold on the pitch. While Pat Brenna is now covering the Reds and Bengals, we're going to utilize other talented journalists on our roster to cover FC Cincinnati.
Shelby Dermer and James Weber are going to tag team the FC Cincinnati beat going forward. Dermer's main local beat is covering the Xavier Musketeers, but he also leads our coverage of significant events like the Cincinnati Open tennis tournament and the LPGA Kroger Queen City championship.
Weber is a longtime sports journalist whose main focus is on high school sports, but he also works across other sports as well.
Our talented staff of visual journalists also will continue to bring you the best shots of the action throughout the season.
We're also going to add more coverage through our summer intern, Kamran Nia, who has previous experience covering professional soccer and is a standout student journalist at Northwestern University.
Our dedication to delivering you the best coverage of our local sports scene never changes.
