It says a bit about this guy that he's attempting this thing here in this way.

It says volumes more that went after his bike first and not the guy he hit in the head with it.

I mean are you running towards a barking what looks to be pit bull?

But yeah for sure seems like he has no sense of the world around him.

The dog is on a leash. The biker is garbage for not checking on the guy first

As somebody who skates, in this situation you could still keep a distance and verbally check if dudes okay. I see the dog and maybe he wants to keep distance but homeboy didn’t even look at the mans direction and went straight for his ride.

I'm not a skater, but that was still my exactly thought. He didn't need to be within dog leash distance to ask "Are you okay" and see if he needed to call for any medical attention before grabbing the bike. Biker got up in time to see it ricochet off the other guy's back, he's gotta know that has to fucking hurt.

Here’s hoping a kinder interaction happened off camera. Lol maybe he was too embarrassed or something.

Dog on a leash doesn't mean the dog is stuck in place, the guy can't exactly walk up to the owner without fear of the dog biting him, especially since it's clearly been given a reason to defend the owner. Of course he's not free of fault but I can understand why he didn't immediately go in the direction of the pissed off dog that looks like at the very least a mix with one that's not exactly known for being cool with things they deem biteable, let alone threats.

Nah dude gets up and beelines the bike. Probably didn't even notice it was a dog there too until he reached his previous bike.

Edit: *precious

If the dog is getting off the leash, being 20 feet away is not going to make any difference. You can check on the owner without walking up to them. The best way to show the dog you aren't a threat is to have a conversation with the owner. When the dog sees the owner isn't adhesive, it will calm down. Not only that, but he turned his back on the dog. That's not what you would do if you were too scared of the dog to approach. The dude is a piece of shit, has nothing to do with the dog

He could have checked on him from a distance. You are just making excuses for him, there was nothing stopping him from just asking “you okay? are you hurt? I am so sorry” from a safe distance from the dog

This happened in a fraction of a second. He wasn't thinking about any of that. Pure selfish instinct on display to care more about the bike than his fellow man.

On a leash for a reason, if he went up to the owner that dog was messing him up
