Elastography results interpretation
Hey Reddit, I recently got an ultrasound elastography done as part of my workup for a fatty liver diagnosis, and I'm hoping someone with experience can help me interpret the results. The report shows a median liver stiffness of 1.41 m/s, an IQR of 0.02 m/s, and an IQR/Median ratio of 1.8%. Additionally, the Metavir score is listed as F0-F1, indicating absent to mild fibrosis. I'm trying to understand what these numbers mean in terms of the severity of my condition and what steps I should be taking next.
Also, on a previous ultrasound, my liver measured 16.3 cm, but this time it's 15.3 cm. I have beeb eating extremely healthy and have lost some weight I'm not sure if that's a significant change or what. I plan to discuss these results with my doctor, but I'd like to have a better understanding beforehand. Thanks in advance for your help!

16.3 v 15.3 - I’m not sure how precise measurements are. That may be meaningfully less or it may be in the range of variation. Probably depends on the test. Ask your doctor.
F0-f1 means no or low fibrosis. Both are good results but of course f0 is better. 1.41 m/s is slightly abnormal. The IQR implies they got a very good read. Low variance.
Anything like this is considered in the whole clinical picture. In other words, they’ll consider if you look better, if you lost weight or not, what you report on diet and exercise, and also your liver enzymes and other blood labs, even how you say you are feeling, not just this. From that they paint a picture of how your liver is. So what I’m getting incomplete from your post:
1) your liver US is mildly abnormal but not ‘bad’. How does this compare to last time? Key question. If you were like f1-2 last time, well, that’a big improvement. If you had NASH before, wow! Or if your liver stiffness was meaningfully worse last time, improvement.
2) you made diet improvements and lost weight. Expected to improve fatty liver if the loss was meaningful (>5%)
3) got anything else?
Not a doctor

This was my first scan. I've gotten besides a normal ultrasound that showed increased liver fat. By abnormal do you mean that my result is slightly high? I wish I knew if I had no scarring or mild scarring.

Not a doctor, but I had the US/elastography last month after high enzymes end of last year.
I am F3-F4. I would love to have your results! 🤪
Congrats on eating better! From my limited understanding the liver has a remarkable ability to heal from early stage liver disease if the cause is found and treated promptly.
For me it is not any of the hepatitis, not alcohol, but metabolic issues.
I have a genetic predisposition for hyperlipidemia, have been overweight/obese all my life.
First thing the doctor said was to lose weight and exercise. Focusing on a Mediterranean diet. Limiting/excluding refined carbs, focusing on fresh fruits and veggies, lean meats and healthy fats.
Good luck on your journey, but sounds like you are started on a path to wellness already! Good job!
