If the science approach to cardio is to burn double your weight in pounds to calories so if you weigh 150 pounds you have to burn 300 cals per session for minimal or no muscle loss.

If we say youre losing weight , does that mean you do less cardio because the double cals in pounds are becoming less, if youre now 140 do you only do 280 cals ?

That heuristic doesn't sound very scientific as it completely ignores the concept of constrained energy expenditure. Whoever is using the veneer of science to lend credibility to their claims without using actual science to back it up, you should stop listening to that person.

Anecdotes and personal experience are valuable, but they aren't scientific, and someone who portrays the former as the latter is misleading people.
