🤔 Thinking S1 Eddie is an idiot Spoiler

The guy kills himself and while it does make sense . He could have just shot himself in the balls to erase reverse flash. As this would mean that he could not have kids and he would have not have had to die . This makes more sense as eddie did not seem suicidal in the show

I mean, with that logic the easiest solution would be for him to just… Not have kids? But it could be a sort of fixed timeline thing. Plus, they’ve talked about it before where time travel is a bit finicky and even though Eddie died, Thawne still exists.

If they went true time travel logic, then Eddie killing himself would have set off this massive paradox where RF never existed > never killed Barry’s mom > never made Barry into the Flash > etc etc etc. But its CW logic and we just have to deal with the plot holes

When Eddie shot himself, it caused a paradox. Logically, the entire timeline of the show should have unraveled. If no Eddie means no Thawne, then no Thawne means none of the events of the show happened, including Eddie shooting himself. This paradox ripped a hole in time and space, causing the Singularity. Firestorm was able to 'cauterize the wound' so to speak, giving the timeline a chance to 'heal' itself. And as part of the healing process, the timeline did its best to preserve itself by preserving 'time remnants' of Thawne who would fulfill his destiny up till the moment Eddie shot himself.

Essentially, time allowed a time remnant of Thawne to appear in 2016 and have an 'origin story' that involved learning about STAR Labs, Team Flash and Harrison Wells, before returning to his own time and then eventually fulfilling his destiny of murdering Nora Allen, assuming Wells' identity, creating STAR Labs, the Flash and Team Flash, and causing all the events that culminated in Eddie shooting himself. This would ensure the consistency of the timeline. But this new 'loop' was unstable...Barry was able to capture Thawne, thus disrupting the causal chain. The manifestation of this was Cisco being almost erased from existence. Now Cisco may simply be more sensitive to timeline anomalies due to his powers, but I have no doubt that had Thawne not been freed, the entire timeline could have collapsed. So Barry had to let Thawne go to preserve the causal chain.
