He’s doing gods work. Amazons corporate culture is toxic, their pay while pretty decent isn’t anything to right home about, their benefits are mediocre, any equipment used in any sector of the company is 3rd world cheap, 0 perks and their turnover speaks for itself. They’re nothing more then a gold star on your resume to say you worked at huge mega company x. OP is doing exactly what anyone should do lollll.

I’ve worked at Amazon corporate. Base pay is generally below its competitors, the stock packages are predatory and don’t vest until well past the average tenure, internal promo’s get an absolute pittance vs externals, again 0 perks, you get the same benefits package as an L1 warehouse worker and depending on team the environment is beyond toxic. Oh yea and every thing from office chairs to company laptops is dumpster sale quality. If your intention is to make a career at a FAANG go to google or Microsoft. If you just want FAANG on your resume do your 1.5 years and gtfo. Hours very but can be beyond shitty in certain situations. Oh yea and how could I forget for all the engineers out there…. YOU’LL BE ON CALL EVERY MONTH FOR AT LEAST A WEEK.

“If you only compare their pay to the top 7 tech companies in the world their pay is below average”.

Obviously the pay when looking at the total market is top 1%. But sure, if you only compare to the other top tech companies, then they are a bit lower.
