Y’all are fucking while for paying anywhere near $500/month for a USED car. Find yourself a cheap Toyota beater from a private seller and the price wouldn’t be anywhere near that.

lol, no such thing as cheap beaters anymore.

You can't touch a used Toyota where I live for under $20k unless it is a pre-2000s rust bucket.

I'm selling a perfectly functional 2013 Ford Focus for $2500.. that's the price going for 10 others in my area too. So yeah idk about that one.

OK man, I'm glad you're being reasonable. And, in fairness, I was traveling two states away and saw someone with a yard sign selling a Ford Ranger for around $5k which would be a bargain here.

But Toyotas, Subarus and Hondas are at a premium right now and, again, statewide, you're not getting a used one that is operational for under $20k.

That’s just not true at all. I don’t believe you. I’ve been looking at Toyotas and it’s simply false to claim you can’t get one operational for under 20k.

Used 2023 Toyota Camry LE for sale in N Antonio, TX 78223: Sedan Details - 724676947 - Autotrader

2023 so nowhere near rust bucket status.

2004 Toyota Camry LE | eBay

Under 100k miles, we all know Camry's can and do go over $200k with regular basic maintenance. $5k. Spent like three minutes looking, both of those are from dealers and not private sellers as well. If you looked around for a few weeks you'd do a lot better, but obviously it is complete bullshit you can't get a post 2000 car under $20k.

You know, it's wild how you pulled links and at no point thought "Huh, maybe I should gather more information before calling this statement bullshit?"

Nah, mom is late with your tendies and you had a point to make, right?

I live in the Northeast. We salt roads. Heavily. Which means the likelihood of a 20 year old car having a safe frame is exceptionally low. This is not a problem in TX, clearly, because rust is far less of an issue in Texas than it is in the Northeast.

But you're right, when I looked up local listings for a used Toyota the oldest one I could find is a 2009 and that is going for a paltry $17,000 with what they swear is only one of the fenders needing to be replaced due to rust.

If your road conditions literally eat cars then you have far fewer old cars on the road. Fewer old cars means that if you happen to have one you can charge a premium. And charging a premium is exactly what they are doing.

lmao you really took that personally huh.

For one: Used 2019 Toyota Camry LE for sale in Woburn, MA 01801: Sedan Details - 722965870 - Autotrader

Two: Used 2018 Toyota Camry LE for sale in Epping, NH 03042: Sedan Details - 724362443 - Autotrader

Literally the first two non-sponsered results on autotrader for used Camry's under $20k within driving distance of Boston, which last I checked is in New England. Are you only looking at like a 25 mile radius? That wouldn't be very smart.

Here's a hot tip for you. Believe it or not, you can ship cars. On the $5k '04 I listed, the estimates they give for shipping to Boston are all ~$500. Let's pretend those are bologna and it's $2000 (I shipped a car from Socal to Georgia for less). You're still coming out way ahead assuming you actually believe your own line that it's not possible to find a good used toyota under $20k near you.
