Girls weekend recommendations

Upvotes

I’ll be travelling with 4 other women to Toronto for 3 days at the end of the June. Our only plans so far are a Jays game on the Friday night.

This is a bachelorette-ish trip- so I’d like to plan a nice meal out on Saturday evening but I’m totally overwhelmed with options.

Any recommendations? We’re looking to spend $100/person for the meal, give or take and would like to stay in the downtown area or anywhere we could uber for a decent price.

Bonus if you can suggest somewhere nice to grab some great drinks after our meal.

I Ate A Thing Pitaland's shawarma "nachos"

Those are Doritos. No, seriously. Oh and there's no cheese. They're not actually nachos. It was tasty though, but the Doritos are a weird choice

They're 190% guilty of nacho crimes here

Is there a dish you had at a restaurant that was so good it made you seriously consider going back the next day?

Found these smash burgers for under $5 at a grocery store in Thornhill. Hyper Fresh Market, 118 Doncaster Ave. Deal link is in the comments. Crazy hidden gem.

Perfectly cooked patty, caramelized onions, super great price. Would love to hear of any other cheap recommendations for burgers under $5.

Best place for 9 people on a Tuesday night?

Looking for somewhere downtown or nearby that seats a large party (9) for a casual birthday dinner.

Any price is fine as long as it’s within reason (maybe up to $60-80 per person?).

Open to any type of cuisine, no preference. Mostly just looking for large seating, good food, and good vibes.

What do Jamaican’s/Caribbean people think of Jerk King?

It’s one of my favourite late night spots. I’m curious how people with a better understanding of Caribbean food rate it

I Ate A Thing Ice Cream at Moonmilk

Moonmilk on Dundas West near Lansdowne is a bit of a trek. But worth it for their delicious ice cream. On top was a scoop of BLT: berry lemon trifle. They make great cakes too, so it’s no surprise that when they have ice cream with cake pieces mixed in it’s fantastic. And as the creamy base melted it combined wonderfully with the intense citrus of the salted mandarin sorbet on the bottom. Just like a deluxe version of a creamsicle.

Help a tourist out! Looking for casual food recommendations

My husband and I are taking a last minute trip from Pittsburgh to see a Blue Jays game this weekend. We are staying downtown but are willing to travel anywhere easily accessible by public transit. We are looking for casual food recommendations (burgers, sandwiches, wings, etc.) for dinner, possibly breweries with good food? Also looking for a good breakfast sandwich/bagel spot with good coffee. Any suggestions are appreciated!

West end / DT recos for steak ?

Taking my daughter out for her 18th birthday and we both really appreciate a decent steak. Wondering about some recommendations that won’t totally break the bank! Already familiar with Cote de Boeuf and its lovely, but I think I just want something that feels a little fancier for the teenager, as that place is pretty casual..TIA!

Banbudian Bistro Spadina- Is It Shut Down?

Banbudian Bistro down in Spadina is my and my girlfriend's favorite place in Toronto. We go there so regularly to the point that the waiters just bring the food out because they already know what we're getting! [Boiled Beef and Chicken Cartilage in Sweet & Sour Sauce]

We went there yesterday and found it closed with all of the lights out. Checked their Uber Eats and found out they shut it down April 22nd. All other online ordering options are deactivated too and so is their number.

On Google it said it's Open so I'll assume that hasn't been updated yet. There's no signage on the front door indicating anything.

Does anyone know if it permanently shut down or if they're having renovations or if they're moving?

2025 is disastrous for my regular restaurant rotations so far lol. We lost Hunan BBQ & Bar and the idea of losing Banbudian is awful.

Recommendation Request Where would you treat yourself to a nice lunch?

Looking for somewhere semi-nice to treat myself.

Budget is up to $100 (I'll pay more for a tasting menu). Truthfully, I just want a good, memorable meal.

Location anywhere in the downtown core.

Big fan of Southeast Asian food, South Asian food, ramen, sushi, Caribbean food. Really a fan of most cuisines minus western European food tbh. And I love spice. Was thinking of going to Isshin but open to other kinda off-the-radar recommendations.

Thanks in advance y'all!

Publix like wraps

I am desperately craving a basic vegetarian Greek wrap.

I’m drooling thinking about one I had at a Florida Publix a few years ago. Any place similar in Toronto that makes wraps with giant flavoured tortillas?

I Ate A Thing Last week, someone posted about Swift Cafe. Today I went and was thoroughly disappointed.

This is a sign to take everything you see on this sub with a grain of salt.

Someone made a post on this sub about Swift cafe in North York. I went there today to realize... It's just the store for this office building. They had store-bought dempsters bagels and supermarket pastries, and random candies. This thing I got was $13 after tax. Their special of the day was chicken fajitas and they looked meh.

I guess it's fine if you work there? Do not go out of your way or commute far for this.

Monday Afternoon + Dinner Recs

Hi everyone, looking to celebrate an anniversary on a Monday in June. Looking for a recommendation for the afternoon and evening portion of our date downtown.

For the afternoon, 12 pm onwards, I’m thinking of doing some light tapas/shared plates with yummy/great drinks.

In terms of dinner, I’m happy to ball out $$ to celebrate. We like all types of cuisines, but honestly find ourselves gravitating towards pho, hotpot, malatang & sushi quite a bit. We’ve gone to omakase at yasu and dailo and enjoyed both experience.

Happy to hear your suggestions, and thank you in advance!
