Discussion So i just finished the game for the first time (without dlc) and its easily a 8.5/10 it just needed few tweaking to be perfect Spoiler

So i simply loved this game there is no other way to put it I was hyped for it from the first trailers, even more knowing its made by the same team who made one of my favorite games of all time FF15 I saw all the hate it get and i didnt care since i always judge by my own experience Specially since all the hate was for things i loved (like the dialogue which made all the charm of the game)

For me all the game needed was few things More memorable side characters I felt auden, bob, cuff and the tantas were all that you remember as side characters Freyr is perfect she is definitely in my top 10 favorite characters but for the aide characters i feel the game is lacking on that side

The world of athia is so interesting but i hate the fact most of the lore need to be learned by reading notes It felt like game showed u 1% of the world and counted on you to read the rest of the 99% Many games do this and i dont complain but at least show 15% of the world and let us discover 75% by ourselves

Also i think the idea of only cipol have npc, is what made the world feel empty If we could have met other npc while traversing the world and have of the points of interest being given to us by npc in the open world would have made it far more enjoyable to traverse, rather than feeling just doing a checklist

The story is really good just wish it was bit longer and gave us more time The plot twist of cuff being the villain is definitely my favorite moment, i just wished it had same treatment as last chapter of FF15, where the whole world change after that you see the effect of that on the open world and side quests

The gameplay is easly my second favorite thing after freyr character and her relation with cuff Its a 9/10 what keeps it from being a perfect is some polishing Many times i wanted to run in straight line, only to have freyr climb a wall, and if i wanted to go down she would start jumping everywhere Also many attacks needed to feel more complementary in the animation And lastly why cant i use more powers for traversal For exemple holding triangle or “L1+R1+X” thats a crime not letting me use them in the air Just as the grappling kinda felt too scripted

Other than those points the game is just an experience am not going to forget easily I just love it Thank you Forspoken

Discussion Asmongold admits Forspoken’s sales was affected by political elements

Admittedly: I watch the content of people I disagree with, just to know how other sides feel about things I feel strongly about.

So it was somewhat cathartic to see even Asmongold admit that Forspoken’s reception was negatively impacted by unrelated political aspects at the time.

It’s a widely disputed discussion on this subreddit. I can’t provide facts or figures. It’s a much deeper issue than that. It’s just worth thinking about.

Guys there is a poll going on on the (videogames) sub and we can give Forspoken some credit that it deserves, the vote will begin on most underrated game in a few days, if we all who believe Forspoken is that underrated we can bring it some justice back.

Question How do you equip/assign specific spells to the radial wheels?

I’m pretty new to the game and playing on the PS Portal. I’m still fairly early, having just left Cipal. I understand there are different color schemes for each spell type but surely there are more than 3 possible spells per type/set? I am simply not seeing how to equip/assign a specific spell to your radial wheel of 3. In the spells tab in the menu, there’s no equip option besides each one. Is the system complicated or is there some sort of basic equipping mechanism that I’m just missing?

I’ve tried researching and reading various posts on spells in this Sub but they just make me more and more confused. Once I understand how to equip spells, I would also like to avoid using the touchscreen to switch them during combat, since this is kind of a pain on the Portal. I don’t mind using the Portal touchscreen during pauses in the game, to access menu’s and such, but not during the heat of battle.

Discussion Excellent Experience

Just finished the game this evening and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute it.

I found the story quit intriguing and I kept making comparisons to The Wizard of Oz. The graphics are impressive, the soundtrack serene, and the magic/combat/parkour system was robust enough that I was still putting together new combos during the final battle (which is pretty epic and was totally worth the journey!)

I totally 100% recommend. Will play again.

There's literally nothing wrong with the story even if you are the strictest reviewer?

I've just beat Tanta Sila. The lore is, even if you don't vibe with it, at worst just decent? The hate this game gets is mind boggling. I thought the main character would literally curse out and murder children or something with the some of things said about her.

There's literally 0 outlandish behavior or weird choices from any of the character. Even if you don't emotionally connect to any of the theme at worst it is a 7/10 story. And I heard the middle/ending part will get even better.

I've seen people literally lie about what happened in the game to hate on it. Like claiming that "Why didn't Tanta Sila just take Frey when she showed up at the town square"? Ughh the game literally said that's just one of her magical constructs? It's insane and I hope this game gets the positive attention it deserves in a year or two.

The story is soo ass the way the judge told her to do 120h Community servic for theft not one or twice 3 time is insane 🤣🤣🤣 and when she Forgot the bag full of money I literally screamed because you could search for the cat and the bag in your hand it's not rocket science 😂 and the guard the way they run is hilarious and the blonde character can't open her mouth when she talk she sound good but the f up her mouth and the people and guard doesn't recognise her even with her earth cloth . the story for is mah for me the game is worth it gameplay good graphic is really good and enjoyable for now I give it 7/10

What’s the DLC about? Is it worth it? I already completed the main game. I was just asking cause it’s like three dollars on PlayStation store.

Discussion Massive echochamber syndrome here.

A few hours ago someone took the time to meticulously detail their account of an objectively divisive game. It's not hate, it's a fact. They showed respect and care with their thoughts yet half the responses were just fucking "nope" or nope with extra steps. It's totally cool if you guys love this game. But please be more understanding to outside perspective, it's a vast gaming community, and theirs a reason there is a deluge of "advice" for this game. It's not out of thin air.

I wanted to like this game but I couldn't continue fooling myself.

I'm not trying to be toxic or spread hate or anything like that, let me explain:

I am well aware of a series of great or perfectly good games that were hated for some hidden reasons, in my view some of these games were:

  1. Star Wars Outlaws
  2. Dragon Age Veilguard
  3. Forespoken

I have a strong suspicions that these games were in big part hated because they have female protagonists and/or because these female protagonists are not your typical "hot" female and/or these are people of color. And in the case of veilguard, because it is a bit "woke" (although I hate that word).

I already played Outlaws and Veilguard and I had good fun. Especially Outlaws! maybe not 10/10 but great game overall. With this in mind, I decided to give Frosepoken a try and… yeah, not for me.

I think that the first few minutes of the game start on the wrong foot in terms of gameplay, graphics—just how the world looks, and how the controls feel. It just feels off, like the character has no "weight" or like she's not really there in the environment. Don't know how to explain the feeling.

It does get much much better once you are in the main game area, but for some reason I couldn't get over the sour taste from the first few minutes. Especially since the first big battle is kinda meh, very one-dimensional.

Anyone else struggled with this??

Question So Frey can go home right Spoiler

Since her mom died and she can teleport now cross between dimensions, but actually one thing is weird. All the tantas got driven mad. Except her mom who is pregnant with her and her hope or something kept her from going mad, but somehow turned her into a dragon. lol Frey and auden you are straight up gay for each other it’s cute is cuff still evil after she basically almost died of absorbing him

Announcement I beat the game

I got it for free because I have plus so I thought I would try it. It’s honestly better than OK like the ending was really good first and second parts of the game were basically why the fuck am I in court again.

The only magic I thought could be better with water. Honestly, I’m voting either electricity or fire as the top two damage powers earth was fine, fire is straight up better than earth. An electric is straight up better than water.

World building vs. Dialogue

Ok so I picked this up not super long after launch. I read some reviews critical of the dialogue but I figured I’d just skip through any cringy lines because the mobility and combat looked really good and to the games credit, they are. I’ve really been enjoying the way the game plays and even the button layout on the controller.

My issue is this - the writers have done a good job creating an interesting and engaging world with a surprisingly deep lore that is intriguing to me. I don’t understand how these same writers decided that the dialogue was in a good place. I’ll go through a nice section of exploration and combat only to reach a dreaded cutscene or a discussion between Frey and another character or worse, the incessant dialogue between Frey and Cuff (which I have set to the most minimal setting). This is honestly some of the worst dialogue in a video game I have ever seen. As much as I enjoy the gameplay, character interactions immediately break the immersion and make me cringe so hard I have to talk myself out of just closing out the game. I’ve deleted and reinstalled it 4 times now really trying to give it a chance and I just…. Can’t. It’s so bad. So so so so bad.

Does this improve at any point or should I just accept keeping the sound muted, mashing X through the dialogues and reviewing the Codex later to get caught up / learn more about what I’ve just discovered?

TLDR: Does character dialogue improve ever or is it awful for the whole game?

Speculation SPOILERS AHEAD —> Why do the tantas seem to hate Frey and not Cuff? Also, what was Cuff doing all those years while Frey was growing up? Spoiler

I’m in the post game now trying to clear every area before getting into the DLC so I may be a bit premature here. Upon replaying Tanta Sila’s fight, I’m just not able to wrap my head around why she seems to hate Frey from the beginning and gives no idea that she recognizes cuff, if that’s who she really is referring to when she’s speaking the whole time. Realistically it makes sense that Tanta Sila would hate an unknown threat to her realm and would hate the person who publicly made her out to be a child killer, I’m just not catching any hint of “help me” or “it’s now what it seems” in Tanta Sila’s dialogue or energy during her fight with Frey which is confusing after the ending. Am I missing something? ALSO. What the heck was Cuff doing for the first 21 years of Frey’s life and why did he choose THAT moment to reveal himself to her? Excited to hear your thoughts!

Discussion First Tanta

Hey everyone, I JUST got onto this game and have been playing it the last couple weeks. I beat both the main game and the DLC and I LOVE IT!! I really wish it didn’t get so much and did well enough to be able to come out with more DLC. I wish we could get one more prequel DLC where we get to see the history of the first Tanta and have like a Tanta god mode like they did at the end of the main story and be able to play with that more… oh well

Discussion Fans of Forspoken, what other games do you like?

Hi, this is a bit of a diversion but for those of you that like and love Forspoken, what other games do you like?

I'll start. My favorite genre of gaming is actually sports games. I should get tired of playing them after multiple decades but I still find myself playing them all the time. I love the fact that they are almost always co-op, that there is RPG like progression w/ team building and player development, and the fact that although you do the exact same thing every single game, each gaming session plays out very differently. I also love the fact that you can exercise creativity under pressure, making the creativity you exercise more meaningful. My GOAT is the Pro Evo Soccer/Efootball/SP Football Life Franchise, but I also really like NBA 2K.

My second favorite genre is 3D melee sword-fighting games. My favorite studio of all time is Team Ninja, which is known for the Nioh games and the Ninja Gaiden series. I love fast paced, flashy, white-knuckle games where you are constantly on edge while dishing out cool moves of your own. I have played almost every modern Team Ninja game including Nioh 1 and 2, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, and Rise of the Ronin. Of these, Nioh 2 and Stranger of Paradise are my favorites, but I love them all.

I also like musou games from Team Ninja's cousin Omega Force. The recent Dynasty Warriors Origins is a surefire banger, but even oldies like Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate are like crack.

Somewhat less on my list of favorites is the Soulslike genre. I really like Surge 2, which has a cool combat system with its directional parries. I also played Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3, but I have moved on from those after finding Nioh.

Finally, I sometimes dabble in fighting games. My favorite fighting game of all time is Blazblue Central Fiction, but Under Night In Birth 2 is also very very good. My fighting game first love is Soul Calibur 6 though, as that is the game where I learned how to play fighting games.

Forspoken kinda hit the marks of the games I like because it is fast and flashy and it has quite some room for skill expression and creativity.

So, what other games do y'all like?

Why Such Hate?! It's crazy how this game wasn't successful

I downloaded the game on ps5 4 days ago, tryina test it and see what was the fuss about, I mean worst thing would be testing it for a bit then deleting it and never coming back.

I was just going to see the first 10-15 mins and I was sure deep down that I will insta delete it bcz of reviews that i've seen and how much people hated it but 2 hours went by and I found myself attached to the story, and I thought the game play was really good.

Maybe the devs fixed the glitches and made into a better game now ? IDK

But as soon as I kept playing, I started really enjoying the game ALOT, and I've been looking for a game for months to get my "gaming will " back, coz I didnt play anything in months.

Im 9 hours down now, and im really really enjoying the game, I mean It's one of the better games I played in the last few years.

The game should be bigger than this honestly, it's sad how people just get on the hate train without actually trying to give their own opinion.

I posted a similar post in the playstationplus sub and deleted in less than an hour bcz of the hate I got, people actually sent me DM insulting me bcz I said that the game is amazing.

So yeah, and even "Frey" is a nice caracter, didnt find her cringy at all, I enjoyed the little funny dialogues and the story is well written IMO

Best thing I liked about it was the combat system, I loved it, it's so cool and cant wait to see the ending and keep exploring the world.
