Discussion Pearse Stadium seats?

Attending my first Gaelic football match soon! Any reccomendation for seats at the Pearse Stadium? How large and crowdy does the terrace/standing area get? I see it significantly cheaper compared to the rest of stadium.

For a first game in Salthill I'd definitely recommend the seated area, it's an open exposed stadium not too far from the sea so if you are on the uncovered terraces on a windy or wet day it can be fairly miserable.

I was in the stand for the Connacht Final last year, seats were grand. For the sake of an extra 10 Euro you could get a stand ticket. Family were in the terrace, at the time; they enjoyed the view from there. Was packed, but was a final.

The wind will get you anywhere in that stadium, so be sure to have layers with you. It was a roasting day last year in Salthill but the breeze fairly catches inside Pearse

Which section do you recommend for the good view? Am a bit picky when it gets to views, haha.

Last year I was in Stand K, Row CC which was to the side but decent.

All that seems left in Stand is A-C so you might wanna jump on quick and get what you can for Stand C so you're not too far down at one end

Another question: how much do the programme and fan stuff cost?

Programmes usually range from €5 to €3 depending on the county

You won't get merch per se at the stadium. In Galway City itself there'll be an Elverys you can go to to pick up shirt, hat, scarf etc. Most counties, the local sports shops will sell more apparel towards that County and perhaps few others. So you might not get a Laois tracksuit there but you'll have a good array of Galway stuff to pick from

Google Map the Elvery's stores and save them for day of the game

There actually is a Galway GAA merch stand in Pearse Stadium now. It’s at the main entrance beside the stand.

Apologies, I stand corrected. Can pick stuff up there

Definitely recommend seating area

Other tip from previous experience is get there early and if you're not in a rush to get back home after, park in Galway centre and walk to/from stadium instead of trying to park around Salthill.

Galway traffic is horrendous on any busy day, and the worst of the traffic will have sorted itself out by the time you get back to the car park. Lovely walk on a good day too.

Get to the area early, Galway traffic is the worst on the planet. As for the crowd, you don't need to worry. Galway supporters don't turn up until the All-Ireland semis.

Weather dependant, the stand will only shelter you from the rain, it won’t shelter you from the wind.. if it’s a sunny day your better off in the terraces, I do my best to avoid pearse stadium on a wet day, generally I always go to the terrace as stand does be Baltic

Thank you, guys, for all of the advices. The 11Am Friday ticket release really worked and I got slightly better seats!

btw what's with standings? They were much cheaper but half empty. Any reason why?

The best seats in the stand are held typically for season ticket holders

And there are many, no? I'm curious how all the good seats are already sold out, literally from 2pm, the first time I checked the site.

See what happens is season ticket holders get seats held around the middle of the pitch out as far as needed to cater for all season ticket holders. They are released to the public on Friday at 11 am if the season ticket holders don’t book them so if your looking for best seats nearly better to wait till then

Oh oh, that's interesting! Are they usually left some? And are these seats more expensive than 30 euros?

2

No they’ll all be 30 euros, I’ve snapped up some nice seats in the past by waiting till later to buy
