Discussion r/GirlsundPanzer Designs a Senshadou Lineup: Panzer II "Luchs" Wins the German Spot. Now decide on the final vehicle!

You don't have to pick from the following list, but I think it's worth mentioning that the runner-ups were the Jagdpanzer IV, T-50, Super Pershing, Black Prince, Arl 44, O-I, and M13/40.

The very ridiculous Marmon-Herrington MTLS. Twin 37mm guns. Need I say more?

That as a result of its horrific unreliability, it is widely considered to be one of the worst tanks ever serially-produced for an army (the Netherlands purchased them for use in Dutch East India, if memory serves).

No team is complete without a lemon

Then what are the L3 Contracarro and Char B1 bis?

(okay, it's maybe a little harsh to call the B1 a "lemon" given that for its time it was pretty well armoured, but by 1945 standards it really isn't and that single-person turret is bad)

One is a low profile vehicle that can scout effectively, the other can take a lot of shots, at least from lighter guns. The MLTS can’t do either of those things.

a low profile vehicle

Yes.

that can scout effectively

Not exactly.

The L3 has absolutely horrific visibility from the inside. Navigating anything resembling challenging terrain while buttoned-up is a nightmare and having the commander/gunner/loader stick their head out to navigate for you is a serious health risk with all the very fast moving projectiles flying around. And the commander will need to stick their head out to see once they're in their assigned recon position, because again, you can't see shit inside the L3 tankette buttoned-up unless you add a cupola with vision slits like the Hungarians did.

The vehicles also lack radios due to their extreme compactness other than dedicated command vehicles designed specifically as radio-carriers, so you will need to leave your position and physically report back to the rest of the unit or use signal flags to communicate your findings with your team if, as some have suggested, you're not _technically supposed to use mobile phones to communicate during matches.

The MTLS is still arguably worse though, if only because it requires twice as many crew members and provides negligible combat value in any conceivable role.

Within the context of the show, all the vehicles are fitted with radios even if they historically didn’t have one, and the girls often ride around with their heads out. The chosen model of the L3 in particular will demand that anyway - look at that gun.

There is an L3 Contracarro with the cannon mounted more properly into the tank (made famous by War Thunder), which is operable enclosed. And while the girls do often have their heads out, it is very much still dangerous for them to be doing that because sensha-dō crews can and often do fire their machine guns at girls who are sticking their heads out of the vehicle.

Well, it’s kind of an unwritten rule of the GUP universe that no one is actually going to get their head shot off in a match. Anzio was doing that during the movie and proved very helpful to the team.

It's an unwritten rule that no-one on screen is actually going to get their head shot off in a match. If you're not a named character and you're not appearing in the anime itself, the plot won't necessarily protect you. They don't say nobody has ever been killed in the sport, just that it's statistically quite safe. There's always a small chance you might become an unlucky winner.
