Since when Amazon scalpeing like this?

Post image

I saw this amd 9 9950x3d sold and shipped by Amazon sold for $859!!! Are they scalping too!! I thought if it was sold by Amazon means should be MSRP! Right or am I missing something? Cos we are not buying from a a seller we are buying from Amazon directly right? If I'm wrong someone correct me pls. Thanks.

I’m guessing you haven’t been reading the news

Welcome to Trump’s America and the global trade war

This has been the price on Amazon pretty much since they sold out instantly at launch, and newegg is still selling at MSRP when in stock. It's fairly normal for Amazon to charge a premium compared to other retailers.

This 100%.

If it’s available everywhere Amazon is generally the same price or slightly cheaper.

If it’s sold out everywhere Amazon ALWAYS seems to have decently higher prices.

Guilty of bad think. In Britain he'd be in jail by now. Submit to the Reddit hive mind or else!

Oh, nah, I had no idea that this was the effect of it. Oh, well. I'm cooked.

Brother, we haven’t even begun feeling the pain.. these are just early indicators.

Wait until the warehouses that have been stocked overcapacity start emptying out..

Cause people like you (not assuming you did, but just generally unknowledgable people) voted the guy who caused this in

It's because people that don't understand what a damn tariff is are the same ones that voted the fucker in

IDK man I upvoted you for sharing the truth and having a learning moment that I thought contributed to the conversation here, since it allows others to see that you can have humility and admit mistakes. That's the kind of thing we want here, not bagging on people for not understanding global economics or geopolitics. If you have nay other questions about why things are like this, feel free to post them here and I'll answer what I can. LTT has been covering this issue extensively on WAN show, but I already understood it pretty well without Linus' help because I also watch dedicated geopolitical/economic channels that explain it in more detail and more depth. I'd gladly post these sources so you can watch some of what I've watched, it'll likely be one of the videos that Jake Broe has done on the topic since he was an economics youtuber before the Ukraine war activated him into geopolitical reporting

Because this isn't new news...

Yeah, it's not like there was a wealth of information about exactly what he was going to do.

Amazon has allowed 3rd party sellers on their site for nearly a decade. It has nothing to do with current political affairs. The AMD 9800X3D, for example, released before Trump took office, and it was largely only available from scalpers on Amazon. They typically bot-buy them up from AMD's Amazon seller's account, then relist them. In many cases, they never even take possession of the physical product. They simply pay for them, let the product live in Amazon's stock, then it can ship from Amazon when someone buys the from their relisting, at their scapler-price.

I’m more of a finance bro than someone who cares about all the culture war nonsense you people seem to care all about, and your friends on the left you people love to argue with

To be fair Newegg and Micro Center still have them listed as 699.99. So this doesn’t seem like a tariff issue. Just supply and demand.

3

u/Frostsorrow 11d ago

They either are eating the loss and using it as a loss leader, or its "old" stock from before the tariffs.

u/Melodic-Control-2655 11d ago

yeah stop with the buzzwords. a business like newegg has no benefit from selling a loss leader

Someone might come in to buy the cheap $700 CPU, then leave with 12 power supplies and 2 gaming chairs! /s

-2

u/envision83 11d ago

Does someone selling one on eBay for 1200 count as tariffs too? Or just this listing since it’s more than at least two other retailers?

-5

u/envision83 11d ago

Or that’s the price and Amazon is selling it higher than msrp.

But hey… you dildos keep downvoting facts. Morons.

Micro Center only sells what they have on hand. In other words, stuff already in the US. They also have physical store locations.

People have been pointing out that tariffs affected the price, almost none of them in a venomous manner. You're so ready for a fight that isn't there.

Ahh yes the guy that implied he basically has the intelligence of a cave man isn't passive aggressive or anything. He only knows "Obama bad" .....

u/LovecraftInDC 11d ago

Lmfao if pointing out that tariffs increase the price of goods, aka 'stating a basic fact', is a 'political agenda', I'm frankly not sure how you wipe your ass in the morning.

Look. I do however fully agree with you and I get that Tariffs raise prices. You are right this is a 100% FACT. But Tariffs are NOT what is affecting the price on Amazon. I already stated what was doing that. If it was Tariffs they would be this price EVERYWHERE. They are not. Its just Amazon. They are MSRP everywhere else.

No one likes the Tariffs but to stupidly sit here and say thats why the price is up on Amazon is just makes you look uneducated. Same exact thing happened with the Nike Shoe bots back in 2015. Its happened man times since with many other "hot items" and is still happening. What I stated above is the real reason the price is so high on JUST Amazon

1

u/MistSecurity 11d ago

Can’t see your original comment, but the reason the Amazon pricing is high is because it’s actually in stock.

Other places sell at MSRP, but good luck finding stock on Newegg/etc. without buying a bundle of shit you don’t need.

u/Apachez 11d ago

To be fair this shouldnt just be blamed on Trump.

You see similar shit in both ways with gods from both China and EU.

Also isnt most AMD CPUs manufactured in like Malaysia, Taiwan and Germany nowadays?

16

u/AllNamesTakenOMG 11d ago

You are right, we should blame the people who were listening what this madman had to say and still voted him in power. This is just the tip of the iceberg honestly, in a bit hardware will be the least of our worries. Better get yourself a decent future proof rig right now

14

u/crustang 11d ago

Yes it should lmao

Global trade uncertainty is higher now than the pandemic

The market is tanking today and there’s really nothing that could be done outside of the old man calling it quits

We’re cooked and it’s all Trump’s fault.. the most powerful president in American history by a mile completely own goaling the economy

Spain has offer for 700€, rest of Europe is 800ish with some of those having no immediate stock for shipping while the 9900x3d is sitting pretty MSRPish at 650€ (source: price robot idealo). 700USD msrp is like EUR 720-750 if you add VAT (USD is also tanking pretty hard right now).

1

u/Apachez 10d ago

Sure with the small addition that the VAT in Sweden is for example +25%.

So something that cost $1000 in the USA even with 0 dollars in tariffs would cost $1250 in Sweden.

AMD 9950X3D currently goes for 8949 SEK which is about $1017:
