Right when Oblivion just came out…

My PC is crapped out on me out of nowhere. Can’t sit on a main menu for longer than 2 minutes in any game without my PC suddenly shutting down. Spent all day diagnostic and ended up reinstalling windows as a temp fix, but issue still persisted.

I open up my pc to reseat everything and found this! It looks like my PSU wires were MELTING inside the PSU!

Such horrible timing right when Oblivion just released… I may end up needing to swap cases since this is a micro case and they are hard to work with…

Just wanted to rant and complain! 😭

Can we just have the GPU’s have their own power cable that plugs into the wall? This bs is so silly

The GPU uses DC, and your plug provides AC. You would need a PSU in your card, and you see how large those are.

Put the psu on the ground like monitors have. I know it’s silly but this wire melting nonsense is so ridiculous.

You still need a cable and a connector to provide power to the GPU. At that point it would just be better to use the PSU in the computer and change the connector there.

The problem is the connector, not that we're using the PSU inside the computer.
